A sobering read, we up in the central North Island who face more of the volcanic, fire, earthquake and flood risk of climate adaptation or climate resilience as I prefer to call it, don't have the additional concern with storm tidal surge. What all of us will face in some form or another is adaptation and it comes with a cost in one form or another.... who pays?

The following Emergency Mobile Alert has just been sent to Ohakune:

WATER SUPPLY EMERGENCY - OHAKUNE
Ohakune water supply is off due to an infrastructure issue. DO NOT USE TAP WATER OR FLUSH TOILETS.
DRINKING WATER:
Bottled water: Ruapehu District Council office, 38 Ayr St; Thames St opposite the Powderhorn; Goldfinch St/Shannon St corner; rear carpark of the Ohakune iSite; Clyde St carpark; and Moore St outside TOP 10 Holiday Park.
Water tanker: Council office. Please reuse empty 5L bottles and refill them here.
EMERGENCY TOILETS:
Port-a-loos; Council office 38 Ayr St, Thames St opposite the Powderhorn, Goldfinch St/Shannon St, Rear carpark of the Ohakune iSITE
PLEASE DO NOT USE PUBLIC TOILETS.
