Agent Gina Ginger Knickers repawting:

Sigh...
There's art stuff all over our dancing platform every day.
Brushes and paints and jars of water and papers.
Me an' Purrdy can't even get up there to enjoy the afternoon Sunbeams 'cos Linda's so busy trying to improve her art skills.

When we go up there, she shoos us off immediately 'cos she's scared we'll stand in her paints and walk over her paintings.
Purrsonally, I think we'd do a much better job of art if she'd let us have a go.
But at least she's trying.

This one's a little better than the last one we posted.
But nowhere near as good as Aunty Deb's art.
Linda's trying to work up to Aunty Deb's skill level.
It was Aunty Deb's lovely pawtrait of me that inspired Linda to try her hand at painting.
She's always wanted to.
Whaddaya think?

This one's called Cosmic Cleo.
It's a painting of Cleo, one of my predecessors, who went across the Rainbow Bridge a long time ago.
Cleo was a very special little black kitty, and, along with her brother Einstein, Linda's first foster failures back in 1989 when she started fostering.

This is little Hope's favorite toy. She sure is feeling better.
She will have her spade next Tuesday and then be ready for a forever home.
Deb thinks she will be adopted quickly because she is so affectionate and playful.

I have the mostest wonderfulest news to repawt!

Shadow's hoomin found him and took him to his new forever home yesterday!

It's a dream come true for this sweet senior panther boy!

You made it happen!
All of my and Gina's friends got together and made it happen!
The power of prayerful requests and positive energy on full display!

It's truly amazing to see what can be accomplished when we all come together with love and support.
Me and Deb, and Dexter, and Toby, and Dory are so grateful to be a part of this incredible community that cares so deeply about the welfare of our furry friends.

Thank you to each and every one of you for making Shadow's happily ever after a reality!

Baylee here - Repawting from Chez Nelson in Tennessee

I finally got Deb to sit down and write you all an update on the foster kittens.
I know that some of you have been wondering how they are doing.

Dolly Pawton, Elvis Purrsley, and Bing Clawsby are doing much better now at the shelter.
Dolly and Elvis have had a bit of difficulty adjusting to being at the shelter and that is weighing very heavy on Deb's heart.
She spent a lot of time with them yesterday and they all appear to her to be doing much better.
We are hopeful that they will now quickly find their forever homes.
Me and Deb have coached them on how to capture adopters' hearts, and with so many kittens at the shelter, we want them to stand out like stars!

Sir Pawl MewCatney and Pawl Simeow's new hoomins sent Deb an update, and it's clear they've landed with their bums in the butter.
We're so happy for them!

Baby Hope, the little trooper, has made an incredible recovery from her calicivirus infection.
My and Deb's nursing skills have helped her bounce back in a hurry.
She still has a few small ulcers on her tongue but otherwise all is well.
She is now gaining weight and looking radiant!
Just look at that picture of her.
Isn't she just the cutest thing?

And as for me, I've had a bit of a health scare but now recovering well.
Deb took me for my regular checkup a couple of weeks ago.
The vet doctor checked my urine and found an infection.
She gave me an antibiotic shot, hoping that would clear it.
I went back this week for a recheck. Unfortunately, the bacteria are still there.
I got a new antibiotic that Deb has to sq**rt into my mouth twice a day.
I don't really mind getting the medicine, but just because I am a cat, for good measure, if I see her coming with the syringe, I take off running.
Mind you, I will be 16 years old in a couple of weeks, so I don't move very fast and she usually catches me before I duck under the bed.

The heat and humidity here have been sweltering, but we're staying cool and comfortable indoors, and I'm loving every minute of it!

So that's the latest from Chez Nelson!
What's new and exciting in your world?
Share your update in the comments.

Hi Gina, I wanted to show you what I have been helping Deb paint recently. She keeps trying to shoo me away, but I know she could never finish anything without my expert assistance.

Deb said to tell Aunty Linda that she is doing really good with her watercoloring. Keep at it. Practice, practice, practice. It just takes lots of practice.

Furry animals, especially cats, are some of the hardest subjects. Deb said that you could maybe suggest that Aunty Linda try fishes or birdies like these as they tend to be easier for a beginner.

Agent Gina Ginger Knickers here.

It's been a while since we did a:

Just Ask Gina

Go on then, ask me anything.
Absolutely anything you like.
I'll try to answer all your questions, okay?

'Cos I'm good that way. Not like my hoomins who take furrever to get things done.

Hello all, Miss Tina Tuna repawting from New Zealand -

Some of you first met me when I was rescued and fostering with Linda and Mr D (Gina Ginger Knickers servants) and their clowder.
I liked it there, it was warm and safe, but there were so many kitties, and I'm an "only cat" kind of girl.

Meowmy's kitty, Dotti, had crossed the Rainbow Bridge in February after a long, long life.
Meowmy was very sad and lonely and saw me on the book of faces.
Bear in mind that Meowmy lived within a kilometer of the SPCA where there were many kitties needing a home, but she fell in love with ME!

So Meowmy reached out to Linda and arranged to meet me and have a trial to see if we liked each other.
She drove 70 km and it was love at first sight.
There would be no trial, it was fated!
As Gina would say, I landed with my bum in the butter!

I was so good on the drive to my new home, I didn't have any accidents and didn't talk all the way, I just gazed at my new Meowmy.

She had set up my room with all amenities and noms and toys.
I was a bit shy and hid under the bed for the first day.
Meowmy decided to sleep in my room that night, so I didn't feel too lonely in a strange place.
At 5am I woked her up with the best back rub I could do and made lots of biscuits on her shoulders.
She had passed muster!

I was allowed the whole house from that day on.
Meowmy said I couldn't go outside as the roads were very busy and it wasn't safe for me, but I could see some other kitties out there!
There was one who came to visit, I didn't like him and told him it's my house now. He just visited at the door then.

As I settled in, I let my naughty side out.
Meowmy has fluffy blankets an' I lubs them, I makes biscuits on them and sleeps on her legs on them.
I let's her sleep on my bed, she has the sides an' I has the middle.

There are lots of toys an' I like to hide them under the big things so Meowmy has to use her walking stick to scoop them out.
It's so funny to watch an' I puts them all back😸

Part 2 to come😽

Agent Gina Ginger Knickers repawting:

I told you a while back, Linda is busy trying to learn how to art.
Remember?
When I was trying to help her paint little kitties the other day?
And they didn't look anything like cats at all.
So we all advised her to try some other animal.

Turns out she's even worse at painting sheeps.
This was s'posed to be a watercolour of sheeps on a hillside.
Mr. D tactfully suggested she draw around the sheeps with a black fine liner to give them more definition, but now they have a sort of cartoonish feel.

Don't laugh!
I'm told it's very rude to laugh at people's attempts to learn something new.
Even if they do look like cartoons. 😁🤣😆

I am so happy to share the latest update on our little warrior, baby Hope?
She's finally on the mend!

Just look at her now! I think she is just the most adorable kit I've ever seen.

She's not eating as much as she used to, but with each passing day, she's getting better and better.
Deb thinks she might still be dealing with some mouth ulcers and a sore throat.

Her spade surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, but I've asked Deb to request a two-week delay. I want to make sure our little Hope is 100% healthy and has gained some much-needed weight before we proceed.

And let's be real, it'll give Deb two more weeks of snuggle time with her new furry little friend!

It's all about prioritizing Hope's health and happiness, and I know we're making the right decision. Don't you agree?

Baylee repawting from Chez Nelson in Tennessee –

I'm thrilled to introduce you to my shelter friend, Shadow, a kitty who's overcoming adversity!

Deb shares stories of her volunteer time at the shelter, and it's not just about playful kittens. Sometimes she tells us about kitties like Shadow, who have been through so much in their lives.

Shadow is an 8-year-old who was adopted as a young kitten and sadly ended up back at the shelter when his owner passed away.

I can only imagine how confusing and scary it must be for a kitty like Shadow to lose the only home and family he had ever known.

Deb told us how sad and confused he was, how he would hide all day in his box, and had to be encouraged to even eat anything. He was so withdrawn that attempts to pet him were met with some soft hisses, as if he was trying to protect himself from the pain.

But with loving care from volunteers like Deb, he has come a long way. He will now jump into her lap and enjoys a good pet and brushing, slowly but surely learning to trust again. He's still adjusting to his new surroundings but making progress each day. She says it's so wonderful to see the transformation.

Deb says these are some of the most heart-wrenching cases but also some of the most rewarding that she encounters as a volunteer. Shadow is still awaiting his new forever home, but Deb is sure that he will find it soon, and she can't wait to see the smile on his face when he does.

Deb said that she is hopeful that the shelter will recruit more fosterers, specifically to foster surrendered older kitties like Shadow. Living in a shelter is extremely stressful for older kitties who have always lived in a loving home.

Let's rally together to make a difference for Shadow and all the shelter kitties out there!

These types of situations make Deb worry about what would happen to us if something were to happen to her. She has made arrangements with relatives who say they will take care of us, but sometimes she knows that it falls through when the time comes, and it's a concern that weighs heavily on her heart.

Gina’s Mysterious Chair
A tale of feline purrception - Part 3, continued from yesterday

There was her chair, pushed into the opposite side of the house, away from its post by the dining room window.
It now stood in front of the big lounge window, instead.

Gina leapt onto the seat, turning in tight, annoyed circles.
The fabric still held her scent, but there was no sunlight spilling gloriously onto her cushion.
She sat, tail wrapped tightly around her paws, staring at Linda with regal disapproval.
She hopped off the chair, stomped her way to the dining room, and flopped down on the floor in the spot where the chair once stood.

Linda scooped her up, carried her to the lounge, and put her back in the chair, but Gina simply leapt off in annoyance.
This continued for some time until Linda gave up in despair.
Instead, she tried to lure Gina onto the chair with treats.
She merely sniffed at them and then turned away.

When invited to play, she flicked her tail in disdain.
She would NOT be tricked into jumping into that chair.
Her world was out of balance, and she made her displeasure clear.
For more than an hour, Gina moped.

The hoomins seemed baffled by Gina’s cold demeanor, but they made no move to return
her throne to its rightful place.
It remained marooned in front of the big lounge window.

But then, something strange began to happen…
… to be continued in Gina’s weekly mewsletter on Sunday. Let me know if you’d like to receive it.

Gina’s Mysterious Chair
A tale of feline purrception - Part 2, continued from yesterday

Gina stopped in her tracks, tail flicking in agitation.
The familiar patch of sunlight pooled on the floor, but there was only empty space by the window where her beloved chair, her throne, had once stood.

Gina’s hoomins, were either unaware of the tragedy unfolding, or they simply did not care.
They, bustled about with their usual boring routine.
Mr. D went to his office, down the passage, and settled in front of his computer to begin his workday, talking to his colleagues and clients on the screens in front of him.
Linda began mopping the kitchen floor.
It was as if nothing was different for the two of them that morning.
Nothing at all!

But Gina’s whole world had changed.
In fact, it had shifted right off its axis!
She could not let this injustice pass unchallenged.

Padding into the kitchen, unconcerned about the trail of wet footprints she left behind her, Gina marched right up beside Linda’s bucket and yowled with her most indignant and pointed tone.
“Where’s my chair?!’ she yelled.
But Linda does not understand Felinese.
Gina tried again, this time in Catlish.
“What have you done with my chair, woman?!”

Nada.
No response from Linda.
‘Cept a rude swipe with the wet mop, which Gina deftly sidestepped.

But Gina is nothing if not purrrsistent!
Winding between Linda’s shins and yelling accusingly, she upped the intensity of her demand.
“Gina, what’s got into you?” muttered Linda, crossly. “Okay! Fine! I’ll interrupt the housework to give you attention.”

Her back creaked as she bent down to scratch behind Gina’s ears.
But Gina ducked away, slighted.
Her message was not so easily soothed away with affection.

Flicking her tail, she flounced out of the kitchen.
She searched the house, each room a disappointment, until she came to the lounge.
There it was!

The chair had not vanished—it had been moved!
Exiled.
She’d found it at last but…
… to be continued tomorrow

Welcome to our world!

We're all about cats. And since you're here, we guess you are too!

Our journey began in Nancy's garage in 2017. Looking back at our modest beginnings, we're proud of how far we've come in such a short time because we fell into this business pretty much by accident.
