Reminder to everyone who loves a bit of mud:
The 42 Traverse is off-limits to four-wheel drive vehicles such as utes from 1 May to November 30 each year to prevent heavy track damage in the wet conditions we get in this part of Aotearoa over winter.
Our DOC team use this track for critical conservation work such as looking after kiwi, and damage by 4WD vehicles can reduce access and make things unsafe for our team, as well as affecting the experience for other users.
Thanks for your support in protecting our much-loved T42, and we all look forward to 1 December when the track will be back open for 4WD access.
