The 'Freedom and Focus Voice Conference' is in Wellington this July 31st β Aug 3rd, hosted by Toi Whakaari and based upon Fitzmaurice Voicework methodology.
"At Freedom and Focus 2025, we will explore the transformative potential of voice over four days of learning and exchange to inspire, invigorate and uplift Aotearoa and the Wellington performing arts community. Voice teachers and teaching artists will come from all over the world, to share their knowledge and to be inspired, in turn, by local practitioners and indigenous leaders. We aim to create a conference that will resonate (like a well-spoken word!) through the arts community for decades to come.
At Freedom and Focus we are interested in all the ways that voice can be free of tension, and used to enrich our lives. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about Fitzmaurice Voicework, a voice technique taught all over the world including at Yale, Harvard, Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Londonβs Royal Central School of Speech & Drama."
