This is my happy face 😄

Our Strengths Network Advice Collective session earlier this week filled my cup - sooooo much! What a joy to connect with this brilliant bunch of humans who are so generous with their insights, questions and collective wisdom.

We explored big questions around coaching, business, engagement and change with intention - and as (anytime I get to connect with the SNSP crew), the energy was warm, supportive, and quietly powerful.

And now…without further ado.... I’m off on a month-long holiday! 🧳🌍

Looking forward to deep rest, adventures, and not opening my laptop for a little while. (Let's be honest, that's a pipedream I am unlikely to ever commit to!)

I'll be back in early June feeling refreshed and ready to dive back in.

Big thanks to everyone who made this session so energising - you're the reason I can step away with a full heart.

Sometimes, the best birthday presents come with a bit of speed.

Back in January, I got the ultimate birthday gift—a hot lap around Highlands Park in a Porche. A speedy ride, pushing the limits, and a taste of what’s to come next month at Imola F1 (not that I'll be in the car in Italy! Just watching!).

It was a reminder that preparation doesn’t always have to be serious; sometimes, it’s about embracing the excitement and soaking in the experience.
The adrenaline rush was just what I needed to get hyped for the F1.

As I gear up for Imola, I’m reminded that a little speed and adventure can be the perfect fuel for what’s ahead.

What’s the most memorable experience you’ve had while preparing for something big, where the journey was just as exciting as the destination?

What we ask shapes the path forward.
Who has had one of these stupid conversations, where you seem to talk past someone??

Husband: ""What’s the plan for dinner?""
Wife: ""We’re having pizza!""
Husband: ""I thought we were going out!""
Wife: ""Well, you didn’t specify where!""

What about in a work situation?

Great conversations, problem-solving, and even leadership all start with the right questions.
Are we asking surface-level questions, or ones that challenge thinking and spark real insight?

In coaching, facilitation, and leadership, I see this all the time—the quality of the question shapes the depth of the answer.

🔴 Instead of “What’s wrong?”...
💚... try “What would success look like?”

🔴 Instead of “Why did this fail?”...
💚... try “What did we learn?”

Better questions create better conversations, better decisions, and ultimately, better outcomes.

The better the question, the better the answer.

Great managers aren’t the ones with all the answers—they’re the ones who ask the right questions.

Coaching is at the heart of good leadership. It’s about creating space for others to reflect, problem-solve, and grow. When we shift from giving solutions to asking thoughtful, open-ended questions, we empower our teams to think critically and take ownership.

Instead of saying, ""Here’s what you should do,"" try asking:
✔️ What options have you considered?
✔️ What’s the real challenge here?
✔️ What support would be most helpful?

Better questions lead to better conversations, better decisions, and ultimately, better leaders.

What’s the best coaching question you’ve ever been asked?

How do you stay grounded in the moment?

Sometimes, the simplest acts can help you stay present.

While facilitating, (when I can, obviously with H&S considered!) I take off my shoes and feel the ground beneath me—connecting to the space, the people, and the process.

It’s a reminder that staying grounded is about being fully immersed in the experience, no matter where you are.

What small actions help you stay centred during important moments? Not necessarily facilitating, our days are full with important moments!

Sometimes, the simplest things bring the most joy.

Here’s a photo of my dad’s famous Florentines—his take on a classic that’s always a hit (with me anyway...)

They’re a perfect blend of crunchy and sweet, and each bite brings back great memories of times spent with family.
It’s funny how something as simple as a homemade treat can have such a big impact.

As we head into winter, it’s a perfect time to reflect on some of the best summer experiences

I’m reminded of an incredible summer day at Jacks Point, hosted by Mountain Club.

The generosity of being offered a spot to play in such a stunning location was truly something special.
The game itself was an absolute highlight (ask me about the ambrose eagle one day over a beer...), but it was made even better with drinks and food activations along the course.

However what made the experience unforgettable was the great company—connecting with a bunch of amazing people who made the day even more enjoyable.
The stunning views, the awesome experience, and the camaraderie created memories that will carry me through the colder months.

It’s experiences like these that stay with you long after the weather turns colder.

What’s a recent experience that left you feeling grateful for the generosity of others, and made you realise how powerful shared moments can be?

One small thing can have a big impact, often in ways we don’t expect.

This summer, smoke from a fire down at the end of the lake impacted the entire Queenstown region.

While there was no fire here, the smoke served as a reminder of how interconnected we all are.
A small event in one place can ripple out and affect an entire community.

It also showed how quickly our environment can change and how resilient we need to be in the face of unexpected challenges.

What’s something small you’ve noticed recently that had a bigger impact than you first realised?

Sometimes, the best way to explore is from behind the wheel—and sometimes, it’s just about embracing the journey, no matter how long it takes.

At Wairakei Golf Course, I had what could only be described as a very long game.
Four hours for just 11 holes!
But it wasn’t about rushing through; it was about soaking in the beautiful surroundings—the epic bird song and the sight of deer wandering the course.

Golf is often about pace and focus, but sometimes, the real reward comes when you slow down, embrace the unexpected, and fully enjoy the experience.

When was the last time you slowed down and took the scenic route, even if it took longer than expected?

Generosity doesn’t always have to be grand—it can be the small things.

During my recent stay at a friend’s, I discovered a ""socks without friends"" box in their cupboard.
Knowing they have a busy family and plenty on their plate, I took an hour to match up the mismatched pairs.

It wasn’t about the socks; it was about showing gratitude for the generosity they’d shown in welcoming me.
I get the pleasure of staying with them everytime I am in Taupō and makes it way easier for me to say yes to opportunities there.

Sometimes, it’s the small, thoughtful actions that can lighten someone’s load and offer support in ways that feel just right - when support goes both ways.

It's one of the things I love to do, show tiny kindness where I can, as without kids I always have a bit more free time than those with them.

What’s a small act of generosity you’ve done recently to support someone you care about?

Some things are impossible to ignore, no matter how hard you try.

Pepper, in her usual dramatic fashion, managed to throw up and still whine to make sure I knew about it.

She refused to move until I not only acknowledged the mess but picked it up, as if it wasn’t enough to just know.... cheers...

It’s a reminder that some things demand our attention—whether we want to give it or not.
She sure has a way of making sure nothing goes unnoticed!

What’s something in your life that you just can’t ignore, even when it’s uncomfortable or inconvenient?
(Haha... I expect something a bit more deep than just the names of your kids!)

I am so proud to be part of the board at Queenstown Golf Club, where passion, strategy, and teamwork are making a real impact!

We've just climbed 10 spots in the NZ rankings—an incredible achievement that reflects the dedication of the team, their continuous improvements to our course, and the experience we’re creating for golfers (members and visitors alike).

This journey has reinforced an important lesson: progress isn’t just about big moves—it’s about consistent, thoughtful actions over time.

Small improvements, good leadership decisions, and a shared vision all add up.
Excited for what’s next as we continue to build on this momentum!
