This week on Rated FnG, we are going out with a true piece of local history for our final episode. Ferg sits down with two of the original five directors who bought the Golden Gate Lodge from Dominion Breweries back in 1985, Kevin Jackson and Alan McKay. They share the unique story of securing the property, the massive role it has played in the growth of Cromwell, and exactly why they are both still involved as directors today. Plus, Jim from Tarras is back for his final mutterings on life before the show takes a break ahead of the launch of FergCast Central in mid-August.

This Friday morning will be the last Rated FnG Podcast. Thanks to all of you that have tuned in and enjoyed what Grant and I have done over the past year and a half. We take a break after the last episode as Charlotte will be away, thanks for all your hard work, Charlotte ! and I will be away as well. We look forward to re-emerging mid-August with FergCast Central ! You do not need to go anywhere as we will be re branding, not changing, our social media sites. We have a new logo set to go. FergCast Central will still focus on Central Otago content but will be more magazine style featuring Ferg on the road, local government chat, local issues, The Arts, Sport, meet a tourist, star interviews 20 minutes max, some of our younger go getters, community events and the inclusion of a Tik Toc page for videos and lots more content variety that could change week to week. We will have a prize, thanks to iFLY Queenstown to give away as we lead up to the relaunch. So go nowhere - take a breather and keep an eye out on our social pages 👀👀

This week on Rated FnG, we celebrate the incredible life of Queenstown local legend Margaret Reid, who recently passed away at 102. Grant digs into the archives to share her story, from serving in Britain’s Women’s Land Army during WWII to her years as a local librarian and co-owner of the Spider-Web craft shop. Ferg is joined by his daughter Ella to discuss her journey from Wellington to Auckland, and how her passion for rugby and content creation led to a dream job with New Zealand Rugby. We also catch up with Laura Staples for a great yarn about her life and the long journey from Guernsey in the English Channel to making a home in Wanaka.
