This is the Great Bungee Company at Old Standard Quarry in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. You freefall 150 feet off a cantilevered tower toward a flooded, spring fed quarry lake, and instead of stopping short, the cord is calibrated to actually dip your body into the water before pulling you back up.

It’s the first site in the country to offer this water dip experience with both a body harness and an ankle harness. An inflatable boat waits nearby to pick up jumpers once the bouncing stops, and the whole setup sits inside Harpers Ferry National Historical Park.

This is Warped Wagons at Wild West Waterpark, part of Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells. It’s a two-lane dueling mat racer where you race headfirst instead of feet first, and the slide tube is translucent with multiple rally points, so you can actually see your competition as you’re racing them down.

It opened as part of a full renovation of the waterslide tower, replacing three older slides with this and its sister ride, Twisted Trails. The whole waterpark spans 70,000 square feet and runs indoors year round, so the race works the same whether it’s July or January outside.

This is Speed at Energylandia in Zator, Poland. It’s tied for the tallest water coaster in the world at 160 feet, and it holds the outright record for the fastest water coaster on earth at 63 mph.

Riders board a 10-person boat that climbs a lift elevator before dropping 160 feet at a 45 degree angle across 2,254 feet of track. It opened in 2018, and most people don’t expect a water-based ride to hit speeds usually reserved for steel launch coasters.

This is Swiss Toboggan at Little Amerricka in Marshall, Wisconsin. The car climbs straight up inside a hollow steel tower on a chain lift, then spirals back down around the outside of that same tower about 6 times before a few small dips bring it back to the station. The whole mechanism looks a lot like watching a gumball drop through a dispenser.

It opened in 1993 and is the last operating Chance Rides Toboggan left in the United States. Chance built 32 of these in the 1970s for traveling carnivals, and this small Wisconsin park is now the only place left in the country where you can still ride one.

This is Voltron Nevera at Europa-Park in Rust, Germany, holder of the world record for steepest launch on any coaster at 105 degrees. Of its 4 total launches, one sends the train backwards, and riders sitting in the back row are positioned farthest from the pivot point, which means they take the whip force harder than anyone else on the train.

It opened in 2024 and set two world records at once, with 7 total inversions and 2.2 seconds of continuous weightlessness across the layout. Coaster enthusiasts specifically recommend the back row for the most intense version of an already record breaking ride.

This is Loup-Garou at Walibi Belgium in Wavre, Belgium’s first and only wooden roller coaster. It opened in 2001 and stands 92 feet tall with a top speed of 50 mph, and it’s been one of the park’s signature rides for over two decades.

The park announced it will take its final ride on January 3, 2027, before Rocky Mountain Construction tears it down and rebuilds it into a steel hybrid coaster reopening in 2028, part of a new New Orleans themed area called Festival World. The rebuilt version will be taller, faster, and longer, but this exact wooden ride will be gone for good after this season.
