World famous tourist operation in Rotorua, Mitai Māori Village, is reportedly on fire.

“Upon arrival fire fighters found a single level building, 38 by 40 metres in diameter, which was used as a conference centre well involved along with surrounding bushes.”

“The first fire trucks to arrive encountered water supply issues and were forced to
“There are currently, three crews from Rotorua, three from Ngōngōtahā, and one each from Kawerau, Rotoma, Greerton, Tauranga and Okareka, as well as other support vehicles”.

There are currently no injuries to report and at 10:15 the fire area was contained to approximately 40 by 15 metres.

Fire crews are still working to extinguish.
