It’s been a busy couple of weeks, so I’ve been absent on the page but here’s a quick catch up!

-I’ve got the dog box nearing completion I just have a few things to a on like side entry hatches and refitting the dog crate now the parts have arrived.
-multiple days subcontracting down at smart harvest, repairing a post driver that had the flanges torn off the I beam that the monkey runs on and replacing the inner skin on a mulcher
-A call out to the upper awatere by the moleworth to repair a customer fuel lines and brake lines that infortunately had been smashed on something while driving.
-repaired a bollard that has been run over by a harvester during the past harvest.
-diagnosed issues on a ride on mower on site and ordered parts for it.
-Assessing a few other jobs for repairs which are coming up soon.

Also buying equipment like a new airfeed miller helmet and anothertool box to set up on my truck for welding equipment.
And all the usual logistics around setting up future in the business! Paperwork paperwork and more paperwork 🙄 now thats about all done!

Unfortunately we have been struck with the sickness around our house which has slowed this last week down. Keep warm out there and safe folks there’s some nasty bugs going around at the moment 🦠 n

Helping the customer(a mate) cut up the sheet for his splash back and installing went well.
The windows are not level or inline and neither are the walls, so it took a for amount of measuring to ensure a seamless look that hid these discrepancies. A solid days work.

Here some Further development on the dog box.
I too a technical drawing I made up into cuddons, with the extra set of hand from a cuddon worker we cut up a couple of sheets of 3mm chequer plate. And pressed it to have a radius from a template i made.
Not always easy to get things to fit up perfectly when making 2 radius’s corner. But would you look at that. Fit like a glove.
I couldn’t have asked for it to fit any better

Today’s mission is cutting a ACM(alloy plastic sheet) and fitting it into a customers kitchen as a splash back.
Then back onto the dogbox before inhabe to go to Westport to help a guy repair a roof on this rental property

A quick forks repair off an old same tractor, the material previously used was insufficient in strength, the customer supplied some metal.

Another week done, and into the next!
-I Had a call out mid last week to repair a guide bracket for trips on the fail door of an agricultural tipper trailer, the 2 factory 10mm stitch wells were insufficient, 3 full beads of weld will remedy that.

-A gate that had been run over and the hinge pin broke out, some rust was present. so I replaced it with a section of 25x25x2.5 rhs. Customer was happy.

- And here’s a dog box I’m going a retrofit/revamp on, the customers had this canvas covered canopy for 20 years and has decided it was time to upgrade. Once the materials arrive I’ll get seeing the lads at cuddons and getting it shaped to line this frame and adding in doors and vents for his dogs. More to come on this!

The start of my week envolved getting a Hyundai 55-7 digger to retain normal running temps, and a full engine oils and coolant service.
Upon inspection revealed that the hydraulic cooler and radiator had over 4 litres of grass and dust build up! To clean this envolved removing a fair chunk of the engine bay, a steam cleaner, compresed air and fins straighten out. The organic matter tends to aid in rotting the cores of the radiator making fins soft. A lick of anti corrosion paint will help slow the process.
results were reported be fabulous. The temp gauge got to running temp and didn’t budge over a solid 8 hour day post repairs

Good mornin everyone, were over the hump for this week and heading towards the weekend!

Last week I had a job building a set of stands to make, that are used to feed out a 4 tone coil of power line cables. These frames were made utilising some old framing a customer had.
They wanted to have a jack that ran inside these frames pushing up on a set of shaft guides with one end as a saddle to drop the coil in from the top, But also the ability to have it held captive when nessasary.
Working with used material can be slower than new material, but it saves th customer on the price of new mateial. I’m happy with the results.
With a few more cuts, cleaning up and paint it’ll look the part

If you have aluminium repairs or builds you want done sing out. In house or on site repairs are not an issue!

Here we have toolboxes I purchased that were damaged and twisted. The aluminium has been painted and is oxidised, but the xcelarc does a great jobs of cleaning the area with a high ac balance.
Best remedy for the damage/twist was to put it in situ, put relief cuts in the corners pull it back flat with a strop and weld the corners out in order that aids in holding the boxes flat again. Making for a speedy and functional repair.

My signage and business cards arrived Friday last week and I’m pretty chuffed with the results.

I’ve also put mud tyres on the work truck to access wet or muddy properties with more confidence, set up my site service tool boxes.
And purchased a 10kva generator to run my xcelarc welder out on site. This gives me the ability to weld aluminium, stainless and mild/heavy steels out in remote places where power poses to be an issue!

Then it was time to head off south bound to oamaru for business meetings with a couple of associates of mine. One of whom I work in conjunction with, Oamaru marine and automotive engineering.
Getting my name an abilities out in the lower Half of South Island, traveling for good work is not an issue.
(Also was Great get away and excuse to get on my motorbike an explore Te Moana and the Waimate forestry 👌)

Another week down, a few more jobs done.
Once again in the heat of the moment I forget to take photos of the jobs🤦

But here’s fendt door I repaired that had been caught on a strainer! Amazingly it didn’t break the glass door! But the certainly bent the frame out of shape. Came up almost like new with some gentle persuasion and a bit of welding.

And a Nissan navara that had been a problem for the owner, fuse issues, fuel primer damage and a broken alternator exciter wire were found to be the issues.
