When you find a rod that you really like , a rod that casts effortlessly, a rod that simply just doesn't seem to have any faults and won't break the bank. What do you do when you have found that rod . You buy another one !!
Thanks to Off the sand-Chasing tides NZ , Tony Holden and the team a Kilwell Sports , I went out and bought another Kazumi Pro.
Side note : I bought a Kai Cooler 700 fish chiller bag too.

Introducing a new range to the stocks, if your not a fan of the Octopus Skirts, 😎 We have you sorted. I've added an option that contains x 2 traces plus the long cast pully rig, with added floats and lumo beads. New to the stocks are these little beutys 9mm Glossy Red & Yellow, fire cracker looking floats. No doubt these will turn a snappers head.. ✌️ 🎣

Over the years I've tried many different rigs for surfcasting and finally rested on the running rig and thought well thats it I dont need to try anything else. That was until I heard about these pulley rigs made by Off the sand-Chasing tides NZ .
Friday night I hit the beach around 9.30 pm with Kaz Thompson and we were catching a few small kahawai and snaps. Around 1 am Kaz went home and I changed 1 rod from running to 1 of the new pulley rigs . Within 3 hours I caught 11 snapper , 3 on running and 8 on the new pulley. Took 7 home the biggest going 510 mm and the rest between 400 - 480 mm. All snapper were caught on occy .

So now these pulley rigs will be heavily featured on my rods this summer and I am so looking forward to seeing what I catch . Thanks so much to Vijay Nikora Raj from Off the Sand for supplying them. Chur chur .

November-early December has proved to be a nice productive time of the year when usually it’s windy and slow. This trip was no different.
I started the night mid papamoa Saturday at 9.30pm and fished there until 12.30am Sunday morning with just 1 Trev at 37cm hitting the sand.
Made the great decision to move to my low tide spot with bait hitting the water at 1.45am . Was a bit slow a first but at 3am it started to fire . Bite time lasted for 1.5 hours with 4 snapper beached .
1 @ 2.56kg , 2 @ 2-2.3kg , 1 @1.7kg
All my 3 heaviest fish had that milky flesh which was ok but no the the greatest.
Lastly I want to say if you are looking at getting a new rod , get a Tica Kazumi Pro.
I love casting it , fighting fish and how light it is . I’m very impressed with how it handles considering how light it is.

Good old Papamoa doing it again. You can’t deny it we definitely live in blessed part of the world. When I got to my spot on the beach I was expecting there to be a lot of NW - W wind but it was non existent really. Fished from 8.30pm - 1am at the first spot which produced 4 nice reds but then went quiet , then moved 1km down the road and fished the slack tide until 2.30am . Being able to wade OTB is where it’s at for me. Picked up 2 more healthy , fat reds . They were both stuffed with crabs. Packed up , fish on ice and in bed by 3.30am.
Location : on papamoa
Rods : Tica Kazumi Pro and Tica Kazumi Galatic
Reels : 2x Okuma 8k loaded with 8kg Sufix tritanium
Bait : pillies and fresh kahawai
Hooks : BKK 4/0 circle

So with this s**t weather hanging around for a bit I decided to go for a fish anyway as there was a slight lull in the wind around 9pm -12am last night. First spot towards pap east I got my 60lb trace snapped in half , which left me wondering. Let around 11.30pm with an empty fish bag. Went down to my go to spot to fish the whole incoming tide. It didn’t disappoint. Caught 2 good keepers ( 51 and 43 cm ) , put back 4 just over legal snaps , good absolutely smoked by at a guess a really good snap ( lots of big head nods and strong runs ) and lost a good red in the surf 10 metres from me 🤬. To top it all off had 4 drunk youth come talk to me at 2am and 1 of them tried to walk off with my big fish . Calmly and politely 😂🤬 I told him to bring it back which he quickly did. Wading in shorts and thermals is so good now water is warm.
Tica Kazumi Pro and Okuma 8k , Tica Galatic and Okuma 8k both with a fish each . Wasabi 5/0 KLT hooking them .
Pillies and occy for bait .

Glad I got to hit the beach last night.
52cm red coming home.
Fished 1st spot for 1.5 hours without a bite. Moved to 2nd spot and pulled in the snapper within 5 minutes of first bait being cast out . Dropped 2 other good rod benders . Occy and chovie mix getting it done

It’s been a while since I’ve done an update but I’m here and it’s time to send some occy baits out !
