Sequence Visual Effects Supervisor, Jo Davison, began her journey with Wētā FX in 2009 as a Lighting TD on Avatar. Since then, she has played a vital role in numerous high-profile projects, such as The Hobbit Trilogy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and most recently, Superman 🦸‍♂️ With a background in computer science and a passion for art, Jo has channeled that expertise into visual effects, helping to tell the stories that could not be told otherwise 💥

Wellington came alive for the New Zealand premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash and we were incredibly proud to be a part of it 🔥 Sharing the night with some of the Wētā FX crew, fellow collaborators, friends and the wider community was a celebration not just of the film, but of the culture and creative energy that runs through this city we get to call home ❤️

You really can’t beat Wellington on a good day!🔥On Saturday, our crew attended the New Zealand premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash here in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington. Celebrating the unparalleled artistry and collaborative filmmaking that happens here in NZ was a truly special moment for all of us who had a hand in making this film. We’re proud to share that Wētā FX has been recognised at the Oceania Cloud & Data Centre Awards 2025, taking home the Energy & Resource Efficiency of the Year Award for our new Extreme Density (XD) Room 🎉This is the first private DCLC data centre in the Southern Hemisphere, and a significant step forward for our rendering capability, underscoring our continued investment in sustainable technologies, operational efficiency and long-term responsible growth.

In the Badlands, every movement matters. Our crew at Wētā FX crafted Dek’s face using keyframe animation guided by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi's performance, capturing emotion and the authentic Yautja language. Layered with creature and animation passes, Dek and Genna come to life in Predator: Badlands 👽 🌳
