Call on Hold has been a dream of mine for years. And like all dreams, it is a rather tedious task to bring them to life.
As it felt like it’s been a while since we shared things about this one, we figured… why tell, when we can show you.

We are happy to share with you all a quick prelude to our most ambitious project yet, “Call on Hold”.

Fret not, this is just a small sample of the things we have in store for this film. More will be revealed, all in good time. 🔥

A few years ago, I fell in love. It was possibly one of the best feelings I have ever felt in my life. And just as fast as it came, it went out of my life.

But, the memories and the warmth that it brought to my life remained for years to come. I was fascinated by that. Fascinated by this idea that we as humans have the ability to leave an imprint on someone. So, I started to explore this question, what does it mean to love someone?

Is it in doing cheesy gestures? Is it in weaving words into poetic proclamations? Or is it in physical intimacy?

While I feel like there is no right answer, I think I found one that fit me right. I think love is respect. It is the ability to look another person in the eye and see what lies within them and accepting it with respect and admiration.

Tinseltown in Time for me is an expression of this. It’s my invitation for the people who watch the film to look at their loved one and take that step to understand what lies within them. Explore what makes them happy and express it without the fear of shame or judgement.

This film is also my love letter to the films that made me feel love.

Tinseltown in Time… what a journey it has been. ✨

I have had the idea for this film for years now, ever since I saw ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ for the first time. Seeing Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds in the heavenly number, ‘You were meant for me’ transformed my life. In many ways, this film is my love letter to all the films that made me believe in love.

There are so many memories that I have from this production. The anxiety inducing pitch I had to do, me and my DOP .andrew chasing the Massey staff for months to let us use the VP Stage; the shopping trips and debrief sessions with .maria ; the long discussion with my production designer ; the countless rehearsals my cast and crew went through… Every day we worked on this was a blast and this reflect through every second of the film.

We are so excited to share that Tinseltown in Time will be live this Valentine’s Day on the Akiatta Productions YouTube channel!

Meeting him was truly the most unique experience I have had in my time in Wellington. I can still remember how it went down.
I was attending a Writer's Room gathering, and the topic of discussion veered into our preferences with films. I'm on one end of the room, talking about how I view films, and on the other side of the room, I find this person who is engaging with me in this chat with attention that we ended up talking to each other for about 3 hours, only breaking the conversation when we were essentially told to leave the building.
That was the first of many such conversations I have shared with this man. And I am sure we are bound to have even more. ✨️

Production on Call on Hold is officially wrapped! 12 months on development. 8 months on prep. Countless rehearsals, recording sessions, meetings & phone calls. All leading up to 4 intense days of filming. Couldn't be possible without the best cast and crew out there.

This film has always been about perseverance. Exploring what it means to carry hope within you when faced with insurmountable odds. In a rather ironic way, our production process reflected that in many times. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.

But when we pushed through all of that, making our way to our first day on set, our unwavering hope in ourselves paid off. And here I am... having become a better person for having worked on this film. And I owe that to my cast, crew, and all my supporters. Their belief in my has given me this new hope that no matter the odd, I can persevere.

I can't wait to share more about the film with you all. Everything in its due time. Now, onto post-production! ✨️

I have made a lot of friends over the last few years I have spent working on films... but only one has gone so far to become a part of my conscience.

Funny story, I have a habit of rambling on longer than I need to. One day, Paris spoke to me about it, the first time someone actually communicated to me about this part of me. And since then, whenever I talk, I have a mini Paris in the back of my head, stopping me from rambling.

This is just one of the countless ways he has helped me become a better creator and, more crucially, a better person.

I truly hope you are having a wonderful day, ! You deserve all the happiness in the world. I can't wait to see where our journey takes us. ✨️

We are beyond thrilled to announce that our film, "Pantry of Memories", has been selected as an official selection in New Order Youth International Film Festival Season 2024 and will be having it's NZ Premiere in Auckland as part of the New Zealand Asia Pacific Film Festival lineup!

It had been a long journey over the past year, taking this film across the world to various audiences. As we wind down the journey, we are beyond excited to bring this to Aotearoa as part of this festival in Auckland.

Thank you so much to & for the honour! We are excited to be part of your wonderful festival, and we look forward to the screening.

We would also like to thank all the wonderful people who have been supporting us through the whole process of making this film. The love we have received is immense and heartwarming.

We have a few more surprises lined up for the rest of the year, and we look forward to sharing them with you all. ❤️
