Parksdale’s debut album ‘LOOK!’ is out now!

We’re incredibly honoured to present this masterwork, a modern library record album that draws from rich contemporary sound-making traditions via modular synthesis, musique concréte and Hip-Hop sampling culture, and is pieced together with deep care and attention that only Parksdale could muster to produce such a work. We are excited for listeners to journey with this record and to encounter the beautiful worlds contained within.

NOA020: Parksdale - LOOK!

Noa Records presents, the first solo album from synthesesist/producer ⚡️ (Ladi 6), an album called LOOK!

Through this meticulously constructed assemblage of aural scenes, LOOK! invites us into the mind of a deep musical thinker and knowledge holder pertaining the lineages of synthesiser music, musique concréte, library records of the 1960’s and 1970’s and Hip-Hop sampling culture, paying homage to inspirational musical figures (Raymond Scott, RZA, Madlib, Piero Umiliani) that have informed his path and giving back in the form of a modern library record; composing pieces with the purpose of becoming sampling material.

Upcoming events from Noa Records whānau ✨

We have two specially curated performances for Goblin Upside Down Lounge, starting this Wednesday 22nd of July, followed by Sanguine next Wednesday 29th of July, two sets will be performed starting from 8PM on each night.

This Saturday 25th of July, the full WAIWHAI. band will be performing at Aesium Music House as part of LUMEN, a special multi-venue music event, with all ticket proceeds going to the PJ Project by Kindness Collective - helping children stay warm during the colder months. Noa Records Presents: LEAO, Yolanda F. Fagan & Hasji B2B WAIWHAI. at Goblin (final fundraiser show for LEAO UK/EU tour)

LEAO are set to depart for their first overseas trip one week from now, flying to the UK for a string of shows including The Great Escape festival in Brighton before joining Tinariwen on their Scandinavian tour!

Following a series of beautiful shows across the motu, we’re throwing one last fundraiser with a lo-fi/electronic twist; LEAO drums are stripped down, SP-404 at the ready, Yolanda will be bringing her exciting solo explorations, and Hasji + WAIWHAI. will be mindfully selecting tunes to close out the evening for this LEAO leaving party.

On top of all that, wood fired pizzas on deck from 6PM courtesy of Matua - Margherita, Salami & one with a Samoan spin 🌺 This will be very special, both in sonic and culinary terms.

We’re getting closer to the show this Friday at !

Beloved samoan surf rock outfit LEAO will be bringing their warm Pacific sounds and energetic flair to the ONEONESIX stage, playing a string of shows before their upcoming trip to the UK + Europe, performing in London, Brighton (Great Escape), and touring through Scandinavia with tuareg desert blues collective Tinariwen. We look forward to welcoming our Whangārei whānau into ONEONESIX to share in the marvelous sounds of LEAO, Hun Lynch and Junny.

Noa Records presents: LEAO, Hun Lynch + special guest Junny

As the night is fast approaching, we’re looking forward to bringing a very special lineup to Whangārei for the first time at ONEONESIX, featuring Europe outbound Samoan surf-rock band LEAO, the polymathic (whose album drops on the same day), and a special debut performance from Whangārei based (Sun Return). We’re super excited to be bringing this show to the naughty nōtā and we hope to see you there!
