Paekākāriki Escarpment Track on the Kāpiti Coast, it’s a spectacular one-way hike between Paekākāriki and Pukerua Bay, about an hour north of Wellington.

* Distance: about 9–10.3 km one way
* Time: roughly 3–4 hours
* Highest point: about 217–220 m
* Difficulty: moderate/intermediate, but steep and exposed
* Steps: around 1,200
* Highlights: dramatic coastal views, Kāpiti Island, two swing bridges and narrow ridgeline section
