The China Cultural Centre in Wellington is a cultural institution in New Zealand managed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China. On October 19, 2015 in the capital city Wellington, it was registered as a non-profit organization (NGO), and on December 11 was officially announced to the public. As the 24th cultural centre established by the Chinese Department of Cul

ture, it is intended to strengthen China-New Zealand cultural exchanges and cooperation, and increase mutual understanding and friendliness between the two peoples. The centre is located in the Wellington CBD, occupying 669 square metres of land, and with a total of around 1500 square metres of space across three floors. The centre will have a library of bilingual books which keeps up to date with the Chinese mainland publishing industry, allowing the public to enjoy a comprehensive collection on Chinese history, culture, development and contemporary social life. In addition, the centre will set up a painting exhibition hall, a dance classroom, martial arts classes, Chinese opera theatre and more. By the time that the centre is normalized, there will be a continuous organizing of performances, exhibitions, art festivals, quizzes, and other such cultural activities. The centre will also organize many different kinds of on-going and short-term training programs for things such as language, culture, arts and fitness. There will also be academic discussion groups for various fields and professional networking events. The China Cultural Centre in Wellington is a door for Kiwis in their own country to understand China. In this small garden of tranquility, you are welcomed to discover the wonders of a five thousand year old civilization.

Natural Allure

Shandong's Famous Figures
Confucius was born here and grew up to develop a philosophy of virtue and ethics that has shaped Chinese culture and society for over two thousand years. Wang Xizhi, China's most revered calligrapher and Sun Tzu, the legendary military strategist and author of The Art of War, are both sons of Shandong. And in the present, Mo Yan, a Shandong writer, became the first-ever Chinese Nobel laureate for literature in 2012.

Turpan，Xinjiang
吐鲁番位于中国新疆维吾尔自治区东部，地处天山东段山间盆地，东接哈密市，西邻巴音郭楞蒙古自治州，北连乌鲁木齐市与昌吉回族自治州，是“一带一路”倡议中连接亚欧大陆的重要节点。区域总面积约7万平方公里，自然条件独特，素有“火洲”美誉。
Turpan is located in the eastern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. Situated in an intermontane basin at the eastern end of the Tianshan Mountains, it borders Hami City to the east, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture to the west, and is adjacent to Urumqi City and Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture to the north. “Nihao! China” – 2025 World Cultural Heritage Tourism Overseas Promotion Season
“你好！中国”——2025世界文化遗产主题旅游海外推广季

To showcase the cultural characteristics, social customs, and unique tourism resources of regions featuring World Cultural Heritage sites in China, and further enhance international communication through cultural exchange and tourism promotion, the Network of International Culturalink Entities, with the special support of the International Cooperation Department of China’s National Radio and Television Administration and the International Tourism Alliance of Silk Road Cities, will host the “Nihao! China” – 2025 World Cultural Heritage Tourism Overseas Promotion Season from May to November 2025, in collaboration with the cultural and tourism departments (bureaus) of 10 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan, Guizhou, Gansu, Ningxia, and Xinjiang, as well as the cultural and tourism authorities of 7 cities including Wuxi, Luoyang, Lhasa, Yan’an, Quanzhou, Xinzhou, and Turpan, along with overseas cultural and tourism institutions. During the promotion season, there will be a launching ceremony, along with a series of other activities, including the Global Screening of Themed Videos, Themed Photo Exhibition, Local Cultural and Tourism Resource Showcases, and “Nihao! China” Overseas Promotion Sessions.

Festive China: Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival falls on Thursday this year, which is the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar.
There are many legends about the 2,000-year-old festival, but the most famous one is commemorating the death of Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet from the State of Chu during the Warring States Period (475-221 BC).
Qu Yuan is said to have been loyal and patriotic his whole life. When he realized the decline of Chu was beyond recovery, his remorse knowing he could no longer save it grew stronger and stronger. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, he threw himself into the river and died for his beloved homeland.
