Beagle Radio

Beagle Radio Beagle Radio is a community focused, low power FM station in Whangarei. Our DJs can say and play what they want...while trying not to p**s anyone off.

Beagle was setup at the end of 2014 by a bunch of people in Whangarei who love music and radio and who felt that existing commercial radio here was arse. Beagle DJs can play and say what they want. You won't hear any ads (we run on DJ contributions and fundraising). You will hear fantastic and sometimes weird music you haven't heard before. You'll hear DJs who can talk knowledgeably about the musi

c they play and why it makes them happy. You'll also hear from members of the community who are doing important and interesting things in Whangarei. We have dedicated student shows 5 days a week from 4-6pm. We have DJs ranging in age from 9 to 50 something. Tune in to Beagle on 88.1fm or go to our website and listen to the stream. And if you want to get on the air, send us an email.

๐ŸŒŸ It's been almost two weeks since we wrapped up New Zealand Music Month, and we're only just catching our breath enough to say a proper thank you โ€” so here we are, with some beautiful photos from the night to go with it.
๐ŸŒš Te Marama Puoro o Aotearoa 2025 was one of the most ambitious things Beagle Radio has taken on, and honestly, it delivered. None of it happens without a lot of people showing up.

โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ To everyone who came to The Woodshed โ€” thank you. The room had a great energy that night, and that's down to you.

๐ŸŽถ To our performers โ€” Huanui College Kapa Haka rลpลซ, The Advocators, Fork, DJ Netti Page, and DJ Jasper Lindsay โ€” thank you for bringing it. The night was a genuine reflection of what makes music in Te Tai Tokerau worth celebrating.
To every artist who came through the studio for our Live to Air series โ€” Kyle Fury, Carina & Sam, Joby Hopa, Osheen, Little Ripples, Dusty Lands, Nina Lane & Bryan Owens, Mermaid Bait, The Advocators, and Leah & friends โ€” thank you for trusting us with your music. Every session was a highlight.

๐ŸŒŸTo DJ Anneliese aka DJ Speece and DJ Leah from ONEONESIX, who hosted those sessions โ€” you made each one feel easy and warm. And to our volunteers โ€” you are the reason any of this is physically possible.

๐Ÿฅฐ A genuine thank you to Creative Northland for the funding support that made the Live to Air Pilot Series and Wrap Gig happen. It means a lot.

๐Ÿ“ก And to everyone who tuned into 88.1FM, listened online, shared posts, or bought a ticket โ€” thank you. Every bit of it goes back into keeping this station on air.

Agreement signed with local musicians! ๐ŸŽถ Our Community Impact Partnerships programme supports the capability and development of community groups and this morning we signed our first Partnership Agreement.

We're stoked to partner with He Reo (Whangฤrei music collective) as they create a new advocacy group for local musicians and work towards establishing a "fit for purpose" hub for the local music community.

Show tonight - 8pm-10pm on Beagle Radio !!

Probably replete with some terrific mispronunciations of Boards of Canada song titles, 3 guided by voices songs in a row as per, a new one from Thom and plenty of medium grade nonsense.
