Wayne Static, born Wayne Richard Wells was an American musician best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, and primary lyricist for the industrial metal band Static-X.He was also known for his solo album, Pighammer, released in 2011.Static was easily recognizable for his unique hairstyle, with his hair held up in a vertical position, and his signature "chintail" beard.Static's musical career began in 1987 when he formed the post-punk band Deep Blue Dream with drummer Ken Jay, bassist Eric Harris, and Billy Corgan, who later went on to form The Smashing Pumpkins.Deep Blue Dream was short-lived, as Wells and Jay relocated to California, where they formed Static-X with Tony Campos on bass and Koichi Fukuda on guitar.It was at this time that Wells adopted the name Wayne Static.
