He was an outstanding police officer and detective, television host, an enemy of crime and a friend and advocate for the victims of crime. his children, brother in law and grandchildren brought moving tributes with a touch of humour and confidence that was clearly characteristic of this this very good man.

A large contingent of ex police, retired police and friends joined his wife Joyce , their children and grandchildren for a very honourable and fitting farewell service in Whitianga Town Hall. He was a character, a legend in his capacity to investigate, forthright, passionate about easing the suffering of victims and an inspiring leader in the force.
