HAHEI – A community fundraiser at The Pour House this week is aiming to boost support for the proposed Hahei Rescue Helipad, with locals being encouraged to get behind a quiz night and raffle packed with valuable prizes.
The fundraising event, organised by The Pour House manager Ryan and his partner Hannah, will be held on Thursday, September 24, at the popular Hahei venue.
A special quiz night hosted by Hannah will form the centrepiece of the evening, while a major raffle featuring prizes donated by local businesses is expected to draw strong community support.
Organisers say they have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown by businesses across the area, with several prizes valued at hundreds of dollars. The raffle also includes a major prize worth approximately $1,200, along with vouchers, local experiences and a range of other giveaways.
Raffle tickets are already on sale at $5 each or five for $20, and the prize draw will take place during the fundraiser on Thursday night.
Importantly, organisers say people do not have to participate in the quiz night to purchase raffle tickets, making it easy for the wider community to contribute to the cause.
Ryan said the goal over the final days before the event is to maximise ticket sales and raise as much money as possible for the helipad project.
"The support from local businesses has been incredible," he said. "We're really hoping the community gets behind the raffle and helps us raise significant funds for a very important local cause."
The fundraiser is supporting the Hahei Rescue Helipad project, which advocates say will play a vital role in emergency response and medical evacuations in the area.
Following the event, organisers plan to announce the total amount raised and acknowledge the businesses and community members whose contributions helped make the fundraiser possible.
Anyone wishing to support the cause can purchase raffle tickets ahead of the draw or attend the fundraiser at The Pour House on Thursday evening.
