We are joined by none other than current Northern Bulldogs Rugby League Club president Jason "Pondy" Pond.

A man who means a lot to the NMRC podcast and a man who also means a lot to any who played in last year's Div 2 battler test.
Jason was a massive reason that the game was even able to go ahead.

A man who loves both codes despite his obvious league ties.

The Jersey you have donated to us will be cherished for many seasons to come.

A reverse order tonight, we start with the League competition tonight respectively, then push on to the Canterbury Women's premier reserve, div 2 NC men's & round it off with the div 1 NC men's.

& they didn't disappoint.

GAME OF THE ROUND

The DEANS SHIELD was up for grabs in the weekend. But as per Glenmark-Cheviot Rugby has managed to keep it locked up at the G for another week putting away a spirited Ohoka Rugby side 38 - 22.
Although Ohoka lead 0-8 at the break, Glenmark-Cheviot once again reminded everyone why they are the bench mark.
It was a day to remeber for veteran Jake Vincent, making his 100th cap for the squad.
The GC stay at the top of the ladder, while Ohoka drop out of the top four.

In our second game of the round...

THE RAKAHURI SHIELD was up for grabs again. A shield that goes on the line each year between Ashley Rugby & Saracens Rugby Club, Canterbury, New Zealand. Ashley also holding on to their silverware with an impressive 55-22 win.
The 50 cap milestone for integral player/grub Jordy Smith wasn't enough to get Sarries over the line, but an absolute achievement nonetheless.

Oxford RFC edged out a tight battle against table rivals Hurunui Rugby Club 18 - 13.

& Kaiapoi Rugby Football Club put away a spirited Woodend Rugby Club, the 12-12 half time score was pushed out by a classy Poi side to 45 - 17.

Week 3 of the second round is done and dusted...

All sides in the top 6 have one hand wrapped around the trophy harder than Andrew Hore's gorilla grip on his Taiaha.

GAME OF THE ROUND

In a match that had it all... Kaiapoi Rugby Football Club got revenge for their loss up at the Hanga a couple of weeks ago against Kaikoura Rugby Football Club and held on to the PICKERING SHEILD.
There were four tries a piece but the boot of Ethan Ashcroft proved to be the difference, even slotting a drop goal! The first since Scott Beattie's for Ohoka when they took the Shield off of Kaiks last year... the power of the Sheild...

Paul Eaton and Jonty Hall impressed again, and the power of the shield got the lads once more, as 5 YELLOW CARDS were handed out, 2 on the Kaiapoi side to stand out Paul Eaton and and Noa Tabuaca, and 3 to big name Kaiks players,
Taylor Enright, Nathaniel Lam Sam & Tiaki Williams... gotta love the passion.

Ohoka Rugby got one back over Ashley Rugby to even the score at the swamp.

& Hurunui Rugby Club travelled south and edged out Saracens Rugby Club, Canterbury, New Zealand at home in Southbrook.

In Plate Division of Div 2 (Bottom 4)

Woodend Rugby Club fended off Glenmark-Cheviot Rugby in Woodend to go 3 in a row for the first time since 2023.

& Oxford RFC took back the 'Rangers' title in style! Putting away a slightly weakened Amberley Rugby Football Club side 62-0... we're sure that WONT be the end of Amberley though.

In the top six we had some epic battles

Ashley Rugby clinch a come from behind win against Kaikoura Rugby Football Club at the Hanga to stay unbeaten.

Hurunui Rugby Club win the night clash in Culverden against Kaiapoi Rugby Football Club to thow a spanner in the works,

& Saracens Rugby Club, Canterbury, New Zealand toppled Ohoka Rugby in a 3rd tight clash in Southbrook.

In the plate division Woodend Rugby Club won their second game in 2 weeks, this time against Oxford RFC in Oxford,

& Glenmark-Cheviot Rugby got one back over Amberley Rugby Football Club in the second night game of the round, a real ding d**g battle apparently 😂
