INTERNATIONAL TENDER FLOATED TO INSCRIBE ‘SALUT: IRON AGE SETTLEMENT’ SITE ON WORLD HERITAGE LIST
Bahla —Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has floated an international tender for consultancy services to prepare the nomination dossier and management plan for inscribing the "Salut: Iron Age Settlement" site, in preparation for submitting it to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for consideration for inscription on the World Heritage List.
The strategic step reflects the Sultanate of Oman's continuous commitment to protecting and preserving its cultural heritage and enhancing its presence on the international stage.

OMAN CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION, INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF RED CROSS DISCUSS INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
MUSCAT — Oman Charitable Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross discussed the requirements and steps necessary to complete the procedures for its official recognition within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
This came during a meeting between Badr Mohammed Al Zaabi, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Oman Charitable Organization, and Pierre Krähenbühl, Director General of the International Committee of the Red Cross, and his accompanying delegation, during an official visit to the Authority’s headquarters in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Oman Charitable Organization expressed his appreciation for this visit, aimed at strengthening dialogue and cooperation with the International Committee and benefiting from its long-standing expertise in humanitarian work, in a manner that serves national directions to develop the humanitarian work system and enhance its presence at the national and international levels.

HM THE SULTAN RECEIVES PRESIDENT OF RWANDA
Salalah — His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received President Paul Kagame of the Republic of Rwanda at Al Hosn Palace in Salalah today, on the occasion of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman. His Majesty welcomed the distinguished guest, expressing his best wishes for a pleasant and successful visit for him and his accompanying delegation.
An official reception ceremony was held in honour of the President of the Republic of Rwanda. Upon the arrival of the presidential motorcade, a squadron of the Royal Cavalry lined up in salute. His Majesty accompanied the President to the dais, where the national anthem of Rwanda was played and a 21 gun salute was fired in his honour.
The President of the Republic of Rwanda is accompanied by an official delegation including Olivier Nduhungirehe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Yusuf Murangwa, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Antoine Kajangwe, Minister of Trade and Industry, Solange Uwituze, Minister of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Juliana Muganza, CEO of Rwanda Development Board, Dan Munyuza, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Sultanate of Oman and other officials.

SECOND EDITION OF DHOFAR INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL KICKS OFF IN SALALAH
Salalah — The second edition of Dhofar International Film Festival kicked off in the Wilayat of Salalah. The festival is organized by Oman Film Society (OFS) in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Dhofar Municipality. The event, which runs from September 6 to 9, 2026, will see the review of 32 films—from 16 countries—that qualified for the official competition.
The opening ceremony was held at Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar.
Anwar bin Khamis Al Ruzaiqi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Film Society, said that the festival seeks to encourage young talents and highlight the Sultanate of Oman's natural, cultural and human resources that are capable of making the country a promising destination for film production.

PRESIDENT OF RWANDA TO VISIT OMAN MONDAY
Muscat — President Paul Kagame of the Republic of Rwanda will pay an official two-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman this Monday.
This was announced in a statement issued today by the Diwan of Royal Court, the text of which is as follows:
"In pursuit of strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Rwanda in all that serves to advance their shared interests across various fields, President Paul Kagame of the Republic of Rwanda will pay an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman on 7-8 September 2026. The visit stems from the mutual commitment to develop and expand joint ties in a manner that brings goodness and benefit to peoples of the two friendly countries.
The visit will address a set of topics of mutual concern to both countries and means of promoting them in a manner that serves their interests and meets their aspirations.”

OMAN, QATAR REVIEW ASPECTS OF JOINT COOPERATION, INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
MUSCAT — The Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar reviewed aspects of joint cooperation and investment opportunities between the two sides during a meeting held today in Muscat between Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of Oman Investment Authority, and Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry in the State of Qatar, in the presence of Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and a number of officials from both sides.
During the meeting, available opportunities to expand areas of joint cooperation and investment across a number of priority economic sectors were reviewed, alongside discussing ways to build strategic partnerships between Oman Investment Authority and its companies, and Qatari institutions and companies, contributing to achieving mutual interests and supporting economic diversification targets in the two countries.

OMAN REAFFIRMS ITS INTERNATIONAL COMMITMENT TO YOUTH EMPOWERMENT, DEVELOPMENTAL PARTICIPATION
NEW YORK — The Sultanate of Oman has renewed its steadfast commitment to sustaining partnership and cooperation with the United Nations and its Youth Office, in order to empower young cadres, activate their pivotal role in decision-making processes and advance the foundations of global peace.
This declaration was delivered by Ambassador Omar bin Said Al Kathiri, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, during the official debate session of the General Assembly convened to review the Secretary-General's report on the United Nations Youth Office.
The Sultanate of Oman expressed its endorsement of the outcomes and demonstrated progress outlined in the report concerning the implementation of the UN Youth Strategy 2030, and the translation of international commitments enshrined in the Pact for the Future into actionable, tangible measures that bolster meaningful youth participation—with particular emphasis on the shared agenda of youth, peace, and security.
