OMAN CONDEMNS ATTACKS ON VESSELS IN STRAIT OF HORMUZ, CALLS FOR NON-INTERFERENCE WITH COURSE OF NEGOTIATIONS
Muscat — The Sultanate of Oman has condemned the repeated attacks on vessels while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which constitute a violation of international law and the sovereignty of territorial waters, and pose a threat to the safety of maritime navigation and the security and stability of the region.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry today, Oman affirmed that the ongoing negotiations regarding arrangements related to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz are proceeding in a positive and constructive atmosphere. It emphasized the importance of avoiding any actions that could impact these negotiations and the progress achieved, which takes into account the interests of all parties.

ORGAN DONATION CAMPAIGN BEGINS IN DHOFAR GOVERNORATE
SALALAH — As part of activities of Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) season, a 5-day campaign on organ donation and surgical health kicked off at Atin Plain in the Wilayat of Salalah, Governorate of Dhofar. The campaign, codenamed “Life After Life”, seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of organ donation. It also aims to foster a health culture focusing in the fields of surgery, prevention of diseases and early detection of health complications.
The campaign’s launch ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. It was attended by local dignitaries and representatives of government departments, health establishments, academic institutions and supporting bodies.
The campaign constitutes a platform for direct communication between community members, doctors and specialists. It contributes to correcting misconceptions and developing sound health decisions.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS OMAN ORGANISES EVENT IN DHOFAR TO PROMOTE RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Salalah — Dhofar Governorate’s branch of Special Olympics Oman association today organised an event titled “Introducing Omani Special Olympics and the Rights of People with Disabilities”.
Held at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, the event aimed to convey Special Olympics Oman’s message which envisages the establishment of a more inclusive society where human dignity is preserved and human energies are invested in a manner that enables people with disabilities to become active partners in the process of domestic development.
The event aimed to introduce Special Olympics Oman association, review its mission, activities and programmes and its role in empowering people with intellectual disabilities and engage them in sports and social activities, in addition to raising public awareness of their rights.

OMAN PARTICIPATES IN OSTROVSKY FEST IN RUSSIA
MUSCAT — The Sultanate of Oman’s Al Dan Theatre Troupe for Culture and Art will take part in the 8th edition of Ostrovsky Fest due to held in the city of Kineshma, Russia, from August 18 to 23, 2026. At the festival, Al Dan will stage a drama titled “A Bite of Bread” authored by Omani dramaturg Mohammed bin Said Al Rawahi.
Mohammed bin Salim Al Nabhani, Head of Al Dan Theatre Troupe for Culture and Art, said, “The troupe’s participation in the Russian festival is the outcome of a long march of planning and international communication. Besides building bridges of cultural dialogue, the troupe’s participation aims to spread national artistic experiences via international platforms.”

MIDDLE EAST IRONMAN 70.3 TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE HELD IN DHOFAR ON 24 OCTOBER 2026
SALALAH — Acting in cooperation with the Ironman Group and the Middle East Global Events company, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism held a press conference during which it announced that "Middle East Ironman 70.3 Championship for Teams" will be held in Dhofar Governorate on October 24, 2026. The championship constitutes part of “Experience Oman Ironman 70.3 Dhofar 2026” race being held in partnership with Hawana Salalah Resort, in conjunction with individual run competitions.
The race consists of three stages: A 1.9-km swim, a 90-km bike ride and a 21.1-km run. Individual racers take all three stages on their own, while team members share the race stages before coming together to cross the finish line.

FOUR OMANI TEACHERS WIN PRESTIGIOUS GLOBE INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD
MUSCAT — Four teachers from the Sultanate of Oman have achieved a new international milestone by winning the GLOBE International Environmental Competition, held for the first time in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup, in recognition of their outstanding implementation of a project to monitor daily environmental data at football stadiums.
The competition winners are: Fakhriyah Saud Al Balushi from Sowdah Umm Al Mu'minin Basic Education School; Hidayah Sulaiman Al Farsi from Asma bint Umays Basic Education School in A’ Dhahirah Governorate; Yusra Humaid Al Dhawi from Sumayya Basic Education School; and Ali Rashid Al Jafili from Abdulrahman bin Abi Bakr Basic Education School in North A’Sharqiyah Governorate.
