Standing at an elevation of more than 3000 meters, Jebel Shams is located in northeastern Oman, close to the town of Al Hamra. This remarkable 'Mountain of the Sun' derives its name from being the first place in Oman to greet the sunrise due to its towering peak. Part of the Al Hajar mountain range, Jebel Shams is not only an excellent camping spot, but also offers breathtaking views into the incredibly deep Wadi Ghul (Grand Canyon of Oman) that runs alongside it. During the winters, this majestic mountain even witnesses snowfall, adding to its allure.
