Nothing beats my curd rice & pickle after a tiring snowboarding day

03/01/2026

Over 300 tiny, untouched islands, some so small you can walk around them in just five minutes surrounded by the most unreal turquoise Caribbean water 🌊
This is San Blas, Panama.

Some moments here felt so unreal, I actually had to pinch myself to check if this was really my life.

San Blas isn’t run by the Panamanian government.
It’s governed by the Guna Yala Congress and everything here, from island stays to food, boats, and daily life, is managed by the Indigenous Guna Yala community.

The islands are raw and untouched.
No big resorts.
No luxury hotels.
Very little electricity.
Just tiny islands floating in the sea.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t even tell my family before coming here.
I knew they’d worry… and probably try to stop me.

The first night, I was nervous.
My bed was just a few steps from the shore, and all I could hear were the waves.
I barely slept.

But that’s also the beauty of this place.

It challenges you.
It slows you down.
And it gives you an experience you won’t find anywhere else.

Follow If you’re curious to see what living on a tiny island is really like because I’ll be sharing more of San Blas island life in the coming days 🌴
And also share and save this with your friends and family who should join you on this trip.

Don’t visit Cancun, instead visit this city in Mexico 🇲🇽

If you’re visiting Mexico, don’t just stay in Cancun resorts 👀
Base yourself in Playa del Carmen and explore smarter.

🚌 Getting there:
Skip taxis - the ADO bus from Cancun Airport to Playa del Carmen is easy, affordable, and comfortable.

🚗 Chichén Itzá (best way):
Rent a car from Enterprise in Playa del Carmen and drive yourself.
✔️ Flexible timing
✔️ No rushed group tours
✔️ Stop for food & cenotes along the way

💦 Cenotes near Playa del Carmen:
Some stunning ones you can visit on your own:
• Cenote Azul
• Cenote Cristalino
• Cenote Dos Ojos
• Cenote Jardín del Edén

🌿 Laguna Kaan Luum (must-visit):
A beautiful turquoise lagoon with a deep cenote in the middle - calm, peaceful, and very underrated.

🏝️ Island day trips from Playa:
⛴️ Cozumel – Ferry from Playa del Carmen
One of the world’s most popular places for snorkeling & scuba diving thanks to its coral reefs.

⛴️ Isla Mujeres – Ferry from Cancun
Easy to reach with a short ferry ride, known for chill beaches, turquoise water & relaxed island vibes.

Resorts are easy, but Playa del Carmen gives you freedom to explore at your own pace.

💬 Which would you pick: Cozumel or Isla Mujeres?

Planning a trip to Mexico? 🇲🇽 Save this because here are 7 things you MUST know before your trip 👇

Follow for more real, practical travel tips and itineraries 💛

1. Airport & Money Tips:
- Watch out for airport taxi scams: some people dress like “official taxi staff” and try to overcharge or mislead you.
- Use official stands, rideshare pickup zones, or ADO buses for intercity travel. They are very safe, reliable, and budget-friendly.
- In most big cities, you can use your credit card for transactions. I use a credit card with no foreign exchange fee, so it’s just the conversion rate and no extra charges.
If you want more details on which credit card works best, comment ‘Card Details’.
- When carrying cash, split it into small portions and keep it in different places( just in case)

2. Uber Rules Change by City:
In Cancún:
- Taxi unions control many zones
- Uber pickups aren’t allowed at resort entrances
- You may need to walk to a designated pickup spot

3. Safety:
Tourist areas are quite safe. We drove, used public transport in Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Cozumel, we never had a bad experience.

4. All-Inclusive Resorts vs Exploring:
- All-inclusive resorts may look economical, but you often pay for things you don’t need.
- Exploring on your own lets you experience local culture, food, and hidden gems.
- Remember tipping culture in resorts, it adds up.

5. Don’t Drink Tap Water:
Always use bottled water( even for brushing your teeth)

6. Biodegradable Sunscreen:
Cenotes, eco-parks & some beaches ban regular sunscreen.
Wear a rash guard if you don’t have biodegradable sunscreen.

7. Beaches:
Some Cancun beaches have high algae content and are crowded with tourists.
For cleaner beaches, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel are much better options.
