Trapped by severe ankylosing spondylitis that deformed his spine to reduce his height to just one meter, he spent 21 years without being able to lie down or look ahead. But his willpower was stronger than his pain: he sat the college entrance exam lying on a mattress and was accepted to study Energy Engineering. In the past year, she underwent four highly complex surgeries in which doctors fractured and re-arranged her spine, correcting an extreme curvature of 170 degrees.
The last procedure lasted more than 12 hours, and was so demanding that the lead surgeon had to kneel to continue the operation. Thanks to these procedures, Jiang can lie down flat for the first time in his life and prepares to achieve his next dream: to reach postgraduate degree walking upright.
