It’s my birthday, and I can’t help but feel deeply grateful. Grateful that I get to wake up every day and do something that feels true to who I am: creating stories and experiences that bring people together, challenge how we see the world, and celebrate the beauty in difference.
This year, instead of a dinner or a trip, I wanted to celebrate by doing what I love most: creating something meaningful with the people I love most.
So tomorrow, I’ll be celebrating my birthday surrounded by my community, hosting an evening full of photography, art, and a preview of our new film.
This event has been months in the making, and honestly, it’s one of the most personal things I’ve ever done. The photographs on the wall, the film we’re building, the stories we’re lifting up, they all come from a place of deep care and curiosity about what it means to find belonging, to use your voice, to be seen.
Working on this film has been a dream. Every shoot, every meeting, every conversation reminds me why I started Proud Stutter in the first place: to make space for people to show up as they are, without apology. I feel so lucky to be making this film with the most incredible team, collaborators who believe, as I do, that storytelling can heal and move people toward empathy and action.
We’ve poured our hearts into this project — and into tomorrow night’s celebration. It’s going to be a magical evening, not just because of the art, but because of the people who will fill the space. The people who keep showing up for this work.
And while asking for help never gets easier, I’m asking now:

This project — and this community — are the best birthday gifts I could ever ask for. Thank you for believing in me, in Proud Stutter, and in this next chapter with my film. I can’t wait to celebrate with you.
