Lisa Tecklenburg from New Jersey faced a chapter of life that changed everything, but she refused to let it take away her hope for the future.

At 35, Lisa was diagnosed with aggressive breast c@ncer. Her doctors needed to begin treatment quickly and placed her into medically induced menopause to help stop estrogen from fueling the tumor. That meant her chances of having a biological child naturally became much lower.

Before starting chemotherapy, radiation, and a double mastectomy, Lisa made a decision that would later change her life. She froze her eggs just days before treatment began, holding on to the dream of becoming a mother one day.

Even during the most difficult parts of treatment, Lisa tried to keep living. She agreed to go on a blind date, not knowing it would lead her to Eric Edelman.

Eric stood beside her through treatment, hair loss, surgeries, recovery, and every uncertain moment that followed. After Lisa was declared c@ncer-free, the two got married and began building the family she had fought so hard to believe in.

Through IVF and the help of a gestational surrogate, their daughter Louise was born in September 2023.

In 2004, five-year-old Xu Yanfeng stepped onto an airplane for the first time. Like many children on their first flight, he was excited and curious about everything around him. During the journey, he took a photo with a kind China Eastern Airlines flight attendant named Fang Xuan. At the time, it seemed like a simple picture, but years later it became something truly special.

Fifteen years went by. Xu grew up with a strong interest in aviation and dreamed of building a career in the field. In 2019, while studying at the Civil Aviation Flight Academy of China, he began an internship with China Eastern Airlines.
