Meet Rocco, a parrot whose cleverness might just outsmart the humans around him 🦜💡. This feathered trickster figured out how to use an Alexa device to order his favorite treats, turning technology into his personal snack assistant. Birds like Rocco are known for their remarkable intelligence, capable of mimicking speech, solving puzzles, and even understanding basic concepts, but his playful antics add a mischievous charm that keeps his owners on their toes.

Parrots’ brains are structured similarly to primates, allowing them to learn, plan, and remember in ways that continue to astonish scientists. Rocco’s antics aren’t just funny; they’re a living demonstration of problem-solving and adaptability in the animal kingdom.

This little digital escapade reminds us that intelligence isn’t always about seriousness,it can be cheeky, joyful, and full of personality. Rocco proves that wit, curiosity, and a love for treats make life endlessly entertaining for both birds and humans alike. 🌿

In the cool forests and mountain valleys of eastern Australia, this parrot moves with an easy confidence, often returning to the same feeding spots year after year. It forms close bonds, staying in pairs or small groups as it searches for seeds, berries, and blossoms. Known for its calm nature, it can become surprisingly trusting — generations learning that not every human means harm. A bright, steady presence in the shaded green.

The Wait for New Life: Kākāpō Prepare for Their Next Great Breeding Season

Deep in New Zealand’s remote predator-free islands, the world’s rarest parrot — the kākāpō — is biding its time. These nocturnal, flightless birds don’t breed every year like most species. Instead, they wait for a rare natural signal — when the rimu trees fruit heavily, known as a mast year. That’s when the forest bursts with the food they need to raise their chicks.

The last major breeding season was in 2022, and the next is expected in 2026. Until then, scientists and rangers from the Department of Conservation’s Kākāpō Recovery Programme are closely monitoring each bird, improving nesting habitats, and refining artificial insemination techniques to give this remarkable species the best possible chance.

With only around 250 kākāpō alive, every chick counts. Their story is one of hope, patience, and dedication — proof that even on the brink of extinction, life can find a way back with care and science combined.

New Zealand’s green ghosts of the night are not laying eggs right now, but when the rimu fruits again, the forests will echo once more with the booming call of new beginnings.

Jessie, the sharp-tongued multilingual macaw from North London, broke free and spent three dramatic days perched on a rooftop, defiantly rejecting rescue. When firefighters tried wooing her with “I love you,” she charmed them, then snapped, “Buzz off!” Fluent in English, Turkish, and Greek, Jessie’s bold escape and trilingual attitude turned her into an overnight internet sensation.
