Time stands tall in the heart of Brisbane ⏰🏛️
Rising above King George Square since 1930, the Brisbane City Hall Clock Tower has been a steadfast sentinel of the city’s journey. Once the tallest structure in Brisbane, this 87.5-meter tower was a marvel of its time, featuring Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and a red aviation beacon that guided early pilots .
Crafted by the Synchronome Electrical Company, the clock’s four faces span nearly five meters each, with minute hands stretching three meters . Its five bells, cast by the Taylor Bell Foundry in the UK, have chimed the Westminster sequence every quarter-hour for decades, echoing through the city .
Today, the Clock Tower stands not just as a timekeeper, but as a symbol of Brisbane’s resilience and unity. Visitors can ascend via the original 1930s cage lift to an observation platform at 64 meters, offering panoramic views of our ever-evolving skyline .
From historic events to daily life, this tower has witnessed it all. It’s more than just a landmark; it’s a testament to the city’s enduring spirit.
