: Wame Blood to Perform Alongside Top Pacific Artists in Brisbane This December
Renowned Papua New Guinean music band Wame Blood is set to perform alongside some of the Pacific’s biggest names at the upcoming Big Village Music Festival in Brisbane on December 13.
The band’s front man, Johnny Yawari, confirmed the news in an interview over the weekend, saying the group is excited to share the stage with prominent Pacific artists such as Jaro Local, Sharzy, Tarvin Toune, Jah Boy, Ratu, Bibao, and several others.
The Big Village Music Festival will be hosted at the Eatons Hill Hotel in Brisbane and is being hailed as the first major music festival uniting artists from Melanesia, Polynesia, and Micronesia.
Yawari said rehearsals are already underway as the band prepares for the event and expressed gratitude to Big Village, Royalty Music Group, CRPM, and other sponsors for the opportunity.
“This will be a great moment not just for Wame Blood, but for the entire Pacific region to come together and celebrate our shared culture and music,” Yawari said.
The band recently thrilled crowds with their performance at Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence celebrations at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby and is now looking forward to representing the country once again on an international stage.
