The Prime Ministers XIII team announced this week had no names from the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup.

This led to many questions from fans on social media.

PMs XIII and Kumuls Coach Jason Demetriou explained that since the Rugby League World Cup is coming up next year, he is using the PMs XIII to prepare for World Cup selection.

Players in the current squad are from the Hunters, other Q-Cup teams, the NSW Cup, the NRL and the Super League, competitions ranked higher than the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup.

He also mentioned that he was working on arranging a fixture with Lebanon to give opportunities to local players from the domestic competitions, but plans did not work out.

This will be Finley's second time to play for PNG in the PMs XIII clash.

Kapinias will be running out this Sunday with the PNG Prime Minister's XIII.

Veteran Kyle Laybutt did not travel up to Port Moresby to play in the Prime Minister's XIII match due to personal reasons.

Kyle was initially named in the first official 20-man squad despite his retirement early this year.

The selectors felt that it was fitting to have the veteran within the squad to provide experience, guidance and also farewell and thank him for his services to the red black and gold over the years.

PNG PMs XIII Coach Jason Demetriou says with Laybutt's withdrawal from the team, young Gairo Voro will get to start in the first thirteen in a pivotal position in the halves, and partner with Hunters teammate Finley Glare.
