MADANG'S acting administrator Daniel Aloi says he is now ready to perform his responsibilities in the province after a National Court decision went in his favour.

National court judge Susan Purdon-Sully on Friday dismissed a judicial review filed by then provincial administrator Frank Lau, challenging a National Executive Council decision which replaced him with Aloi.

Aloi said a lot of work needs to be done to progress the province.

"We should thank the cause of law that has taken place and that we must be put in a better perspective," Aloi said.

COURT BATTLES HINDERING PROGRESS IN MADANG

Governor for Madang Province Ramsey Pariwa says the development of Madang has been significantly delayed due to many court cases filed by different parties at both the provincial and district levels.

Mr. Pariwa said over the past 15 years, both the Madang District and the Madang Province have been held back by these ongoing court battles.

Pariwa is concerned that instead of collectively working together, the parties involved have chosen to repeatedly challenge each other through the courts.

He is calling on the these parties to accept defeat, rather than continuously running to the courts.

β€œThese constant litigations have had a significant negative impact, both politically and administratively, on the development and advancement of Madang Province,” Mr. Pariwa said.

In the meantime, Madang people are also concerned about the in-house fighting over the provincial administrator’s post which is also contributing to the lack of development.
