PNG🇵🇬 NRL TEAM SHOULD BE.
From the higher rugged mountains⛰️ of the Pacific, where the proud Highlands mountaineers breathe the thin air of freedom, to the sweeping coasts🏝 where the sea tells stories older than time, and across the scattered islands where the sun sets in a blaze of gold — we are the PNG Hornbills🇵🇬.Our home is the beauty of mighty rivers🏞,the shelter of natural rainforests🌄, and the endless horizon of the ocean. We come wearing bilas, tapa cloths, grass skirts, feathers, and smiles of every shade — black, brown, and gold — representing over 800 languages✌️🙏🏻 and countless traditions. Our strength is not in our sameness, but in our differences, bound together by the call of the hornbill, a cry that echoes from the Highlands to the Islands.
We are a rugby-mad nation🌎 that the world too often underestimates — Australia and others may doubt us, but that doubt only sharpens our determination. From the proud mountain warriors to the saltwater people of the coasts, from river communities to island villages, we carry the pride of all Papua New Guineans🇵🇬 when we step onto the field. We are shaped by the kundu drum, the singsing, the laughter of markets, and the wisdom of our elders. We play with the courage of the crocodile, the grace of the kumul, and the relentless endurance of the hornbill — a bird that soars high above storms🌄 yet always returns home.
We are humble in victory, gracious in defeat, but unshakable in spirit. Every pass, every tackle, every try is a heartbeat for our people. Step by step, we adapt, learn, and grow stronger. The PNG Hornbills are more than a team — we are the living face of unity in diversity, the guardians of our natural beauty, and the voice of freedom.
