Through the Kohua Beach Tours and a Young Pacific Leader grant, they are also teaching local students and supporting the community.

We were so eager to bring you this feature, we decided to wrap up our week on a high with Iubu Matagu's inspiring story on the AM Fix tomorrow.

The AM Fix features Iubu Matagu, now working at the Governor General’s Office. She was once a student at Tubusereia Community School, where the iconic Yumi Yet documentary was filmed in 1975. That film captured the spirit of Independence, and Iubu lived it. Her classmates went on to lead, serve, and shape the country, all guided by the late Mr. Dai, a teacher who believed in their potential.

Fast forward to today- Iubu is a proud mum of four and grandmother to seven. She’s seen PNG grow, and she’s got a message for the next generation.

Her words hit deep:
"Everything starts at home. If we want Papua New Guinea to do well in the next 50 years, we must raise better parents, better teachers, and better children. Everyone has greatness in them. Let’s think carefully about how we lead and care for our country."

2025 National Book Week Theme: Reading Our Past, Transforming Our Future "
