The NCD Secondary School Career Expo 2026

This week, more than 5000 grade 12 students, from the respective secondary schools in the National Capital District participated in the NCD Secondary School Career Expo. The expo hosted 38 different institutions from around Papua New Guinea and across the region.

The theme for this year's career expo is: "Information is Power". The NCD Secondary School Career Expo has been hosted for the last 18 years.

WAO–Islands Petroleum Charity Colour Run 2026 Set for Port Moresby

The We Are One Foundation (WAO), in partnership with Islands Petroleum Ltd (IPL), will host the WAO–IP Charity Colour Run 2026 in Port Moresby this Sunday, July 26th.

Now in its role as WAO’s flagship community initiative, the annual event has already raised more than K1.79 million to support healthcare and education nationwide. Past beneficiaries include hospitals, clinics, and schools across Papua New Guinea.

This year’s proceeds will go directly to Gerehu General Hospital and the Six Mile Polyclinic.

The charity run will start at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium (SHMS), taking participants through Harbor City, Konedobu, Waterfront, Champion Parade, Ela Beach, and Paga Hill ring road, before looping back downtown and returning to SHMS.

Motorists are advised to expect temporary traffic delays and intermittent road closures along the route. Emergency vehicles will have full access throughout the event.

📢 EAST SEPIK NURSING STUDENTS APPEAL FOR URGENT TUITION ASSISTANCE 🇵🇬🩺

TribeFM was thrilled to host the East Sepik Students Association (ESSA) from the Tuna Bay School of Nursing on the Morning Show today to share a critical appeal for their education and future.

With the tuition fee deadline just one month away, many of these future healthcare heroes are at risk of discontinuing their studies due to severe financial hardship.

The majority of these students come from rural communities where parents and guardians are subsistence farmers. They rely on seasonal income from cocoa, vanilla, and market produce. Fluctuating market prices make it incredibly difficult to meet rising tertiary costs.

Nathan, from the school's Student Services Counselling Department, emphasized that timely financial intervention from provincial governments is crucial. It keeps schools operating smoothly and ensures students graduate on time.

These students are dedicated to completing their nursing education and returning home to serve the rural communities of East Sepik Province and Papua New Guinea.

The association is calling on the Office of the Governor and the East Sepik Provincial Government for a timely financial intervention. Investing in these students today is a direct investment in the province's future healthcare workforce.

The students also expressed their deepest appreciation to the Governor and the ESPG for their ongoing leadership and commitment to education. Let's help ensure no student is left behind!

Triber Mary Trakalowa Completes Sports Commentary and Gender Equity Training.

The week-long Sports Commentary and Gender Equity in Sports Reporting Training Workshop concluded successfully, equipping participants with valuable skills and knowledge in sports media and inclusive reporting.

Among the participants was Mary Trakalowa (Triber RiiRii), who successfully completed the workshop facilitated through the ABC International Development initiative in partnership with PNGAus.

Speaking after the training, Triber Rii described the experience as inspiring and empowering, saying it strengthened her passion for sports commentary and storytelling.

“I am truly honored and grateful to have completed this training.
The experience has strengthened my passion for sports media, commentary, and storytelling,” she said.

The workshop focused on sports commentary, media reporting, and gender equity in sports journalism while also providing participants with opportunities to connect with experienced and emerging media professionals.

Triber Rii thanked ABC International Development and workshop organisers for creating a positive learning environment that encouraged growth, collaboration, and knowledge sharing throughout the week.

“The conversations, encouragement, and shared experiences made this journey even more special,” she added.

She said the training marked the beginning of greater opportunities in the sports media industry and expressed excitement about pursuing a future in sports commentary and reporting.

Today, we are saying a tough but incredibly proud farewell to one of our own, Michael Arifeae, aka "Triber Mikey".

Mikey started working here in 2014, but his family’s footprint in these hallways goes back way longer than that. In fact, the Arifeae name is literally woven into the history of broadcasting in PNG.

64 Years of History...

The Start: His grandfather, the late Jack Arifeae, started out back in 1962 with the ABC.

The Transition: The family was right there when it was handed over to become the NBC in 1973, and they were on the airwaves when PNG gained Independence.

Keeping it in the Family: Four of Jack’s children carried the torch, the late Tom Snr, the late Henry Snr, the late Henao, and Mikey’s dad, Allen Arifeae Snr.

From major historic elections to the Pacific Games, this family has given 64 years of service to our national broadcaster. Mikey’s departure officially closes an incredible chapter for the Arifeae name at NBC.

As Mikey shared in his own words, their journey was never about fame, or perks. It was simply about being the best at the job with the time they were given, and above all, taking care of family.

We are going to miss his energy, his passion, and his classic "weird guy" humor around the station. But we know whatever exciting path he takes next, he’s going to crush it.

Mikey, thank you for the memories, the brotherhood, and the dedication. You will always be part of the Tribe family.
