The Royal Australian Airforce C27 returned back to Jacksons Airport to pick up the Late Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare's casket. Ol lain blo yu lo Sepik ino laikim yu sidaun lo cargo ap blo balus. Yu bikpla man tumas. The Grand Chief's casket departed for East Sepik Province and Wewak town gave him a fitting welcome. Toktok you tromoi pinis, "Meat blo yupla na bone tasol must go back" Sana yu tasol na every Papua New Guinean will be forever grateful to you for giving us this independent nation.

As the C27 engines roar, all the sirens and horns rejoiced to your name and thousands who turned up bid you farewell. Sana, the atmosphere was filled with emotions, yu yet yu papa, the final salute in the Capital City you have built with your vision, Port Moresby says goodbye and over to you Wewak. 💚

For the past few days we've documented your legacy which will be history. Its unfortunate we cant make it to Wewak but we know my our fellow media colleagues there will document this event which will be history for our future generation. Farewell Sana, Papa blo Nation. 💔💔💔💔

Who ever thought a son of a Police Officer would bring Independence to a nation. Ludwig Somare was a policeman from 1922 to 1947, rising to the rank of sergeant. The humble father of the Grand Chief Michael Thomas Somare. So it was fitting to see the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary pay their last respect this evening at the Sir John Guise Stadium Grand Chief's Hauskry. Last event of the official program and the Grand Chief departs for Wewak tomorrow.

The Sepik Community and West Papua turned up in numbers this afternoon to pay respect to the Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare. The last night for the official hauskry program hosted by NCD. Tomorrow the Grand Chief's Casket will be handed over to the state for Parliament to pay their last respects.

A NATION THAT MOURNS FOR THEIR FATHER.

Communities in the Nation's Capital peacefully marched to the Sir John Guise Stadium indoor complex this evening to pay their respects to the Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare. A hauskry is set up there and is hosted by the Governor for NCDC Sir Powes Parkop.

A program has been set by NCD throughout the week. Different provinces are scheduled to to go pay their respects with their members.

Today is declared a public holiday and all business houses were closed throughout the day. Other provinces also did the same to mark today as a day of mourning to respect the Father of our Nation. The NEC has declared 2 weeks of mourning for the Grand Chief.

You have established your trade mark "Block Music" and set a bench mark in the music industry of Papua New Guinea and also the Pacific. You have played along side, produced and molded so many great artists new and old to this day of your passing. Your style of music is unique and we will miss your sound.
