Printed copies of the Records PNG magazines were being subscribed by Central Provincial Government and received by their Senior Public Relations Officer, Mr Rocky Issou, he described the magazine as an excellent publication for government news and information.
He said the magazine is not new to the Central Provincial Government in terms of publishing its news and information over the last 5 years. Climate change affects Pacific

The effects of Climate Change are becoming stronger and happening more often in the Pacific Region.

Vishal Prasad, who is the Director of the group Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change [PISFCC], says that the Pacific region is now experiencing huge impacts because of Climate Change.

He shared this information with the media when asked about how Climate Change is affecting the region.

Meantime, The International Court of Justice [ICJ] is expected to announce the results of a major climate change case this year.

This case was started by Pacific Island students.

The hearing for this case took place in December 2024, and for the first time, Papua New Guinea took part in it.

Govt to provide free education for teachers

PRIME Minister James Marape has announced that the government will fund tuition fees for all students attending all teaching institution in the country in 2026 going forward to push for more teachers graduating.

The National Government will provide free education to Papua New Guineans who are interested in pursuing teacher education in 2026.
Prime Minister James Marape during the University of Goroka's 28th Graduation ceremony of the education cohort on Tuesday at the National Sports Institute in Goroka.

He said it will be tuition fee free for all who want take up teaching profession in the country.

The PM said the government will pay the full amount of tuition fees for all students who are training to be teachers in all teaching institutions from Early Childhood teachers to lecturers which included Diploma to Masters starting next year.

He reiteratedthat this included students who would like to enter teaching colleges after completing grade 12 in 2026, that all their tuition fees will be paid in full by the government while boarding and accommodation to be met by sponsors or parents.

He emphasized that teaching is a noble profession and acknowledged teachers’ dedication and commitment in educating the generations of Papua New Guineans since independence to where the country is today.

He reaffirmed the government's commitment under his leadership for teachers to be among the highest paid public servants in the country as a priority of the Marape Rosso government to ensure teaching packages are being taken care of from the early childhood teachers to lecturers at the University level.

He said it is the priority of the government going forward this year as the 50th independence year of the country to ensure working conditions of teachers are being improved to ensure no teaching posts are not taken up as teachers play an important role to incubate a better PNG.
