LOVE LOST TO THE SOLOMON SEA ~ A NOVEL
In Memory of those lost at Sea in the MV Rabaul Queen Tragedy

A debut Novel by ~ Naso Caleb Kila

I started this journey 4 years ago in a settlement and slums of Banana Block near Lopi in Goroka. Then, I was working as a security guard with Adventist Aviation Services. I always have a pen and a notebook in my pocket. Sometimes, it would be just papers. Standing at the gate, I would pull out my notebook and start writing. It would be a poem or a short story.

At that time, my dream of going to college was shattered. There's nothing I could do to suppress this burning desire to continue my educational journey other than writing. It became part of me as time goes on.

One day, one of the guards read some of my poems during the lunch break and told me, "Bro, you should write a book". I took those words and thought about something I could write about. A few weeks later, the idea of Rabaul Queen came up. Without a second thought, I started writing. I didn't have a computer, so I typed everything on my phone.

A year later, I moved to Port Moresby. Moving to Port Moresby was the greatest risk I was taking. I thank God for his providence.

When someone got me a new laptop, I transferred everything from my phone to the computer and started editing. It took a while just to get what I saw in my mind's eye into the pages of this book.

Finally, I have the copies of my debut Novel, and I am so thankful to everyone who's supported me in this journey.
