Dr. Rastanura Bober, Dean of the College of Education, clarified the issue regarding the offering of BSEd majorships per campus. She emphasized that there will be no transferring of students from one campus to another amid circulating concerns related to the specialization offerings in the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) program.

In an interview, Dr. Bober explained that education students who have already begun their current majorships will continue with the same track. This means that no student will be moved between campuses. However, for incoming freshmen, there will be a limited number of BSEd specialization offerings in both campuses.

Tentatively, three major subjects—English, Science, and Values Education—will be offered at the Main Campus, while Filipino and Mathematics majors will be available at the PPC Campus.

She said, ‘𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘦𝘯𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘫𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴. 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘫𝘰𝘳. 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘬𝘢𝘬𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘪 𝘬𝘶𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘯𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘴. When asked whether stakeholders were consulted regarding the changes, Dr. Bober said: ‘𝘚𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳, 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮, 𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴, 𝘯𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤 𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘯𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮.’

She also emphasized the university’s academic freedom in implementing policies and assured that students will be kept informed.

She added that openness to change is essential.

The decision to retain specific BSEd majors per campus was based on the current number of enrollees and the university’s available resources to support the programs.

Meanwhile, an official announcement of the changes will be released within the week.
Additionally, a room-to-room information campaign will be conducted, led by College of Education Officer-in-Charge Ian Christian U. Cadiz, together with the program chair, to inform BSEd students of the upcoming adjustments.
