Ito ang schedule ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Palawan upang magrehistro ng mga kababayan nating taga-WPU na hindi pa nakapagproseso o hindi pa tapos sa pagkuha ng kaniyang National ID o Pambansang Pagkakakilanlan.

Narito ang mga araw na nakalaan para sa anim na kolehiyo sa Main Campus:

Heads up, WPUans!

The Philippine Statistics Authority has stationed a PhilSys Step 2 Registration/ National ID Registration booth that will cater to registrants from different colleges on the main campus starting TODAY, March 8.

Students from the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) and the College of Business and Management (CBM) who have gone through Step 1, Online Registration, but are yet to complete the process of getting their National ID will be entertained TODAY ONLY.

They have written letters to each college to inform them of their schedule.

We will also post their schedule for the rest of the colleges later.

𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙡𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙤 𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙋𝙐 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙎𝙏𝙍𝘼𝙎𝙐𝘾 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 2022, 𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖 𝙉𝙖!

Hindi alintana ng mga manlalaro ng Western Philippines University (WPU) ang pagod at init ng sikat ng araw sa pag-eensayo at paghahanda, masungkit lamang nila ang ginto sa iba't ibang events sa Southern Tagalog Regional Association of State Colleges and Universities (STRASUC) Sports Olympics na idaraos sa Cavite State University (CvSU), Indang, Cavite, mula ika-5 hanggang ika-9 ng Disyembre.

Tangan–tangan ng delegasyon ng unibersidad, na binubuo ng 128 na mga atleta buhat sa iba’t ibang kampus, ang bandera ng WPU na lalahok sa larong Volleyball Men and Women, Football Men, Boxing, Softball, Futsal Women, Sepak Takraw Men, Basketball Women, Athletics, Beach Volleyball Men at Women, at Swimming.

Makikipagtunggali ang mga atleta sa 11 katunggaling State Colleges and Universities (SUCs) sa Timog Katagalugan.

Ito ay ang Palawan State University (PSU), Batangas State University (BSU), Cavite State University (CvSU), Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), University of Rizal System (URS), Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC), Romblon State University (RSU), Mindoro State University (MSU), University of the Philippines -Los Baños (UPLB) at Marinduque State College (MSC).

Makikita sa pagsasanay ng mga atleta ang pagsisikap at dedikasyon nila sa bawat larong kanilang sasalihan.

Ayon kay G. Marcelito Glenn S. Llavan, Sports OIC ng WPU, maganda raw ang ipinapakitang performance ng mga atleta ng WPU sa kanilang pagsasanay para sa STRASUC Olympics.

Tiwala siya na makakapag-uwi ng gintong medalya ang mga manlalaro ng Boxing at Athletics.

“Ayos na rin sila sa training, medyo maganda na rin ang nagiging preparasyon para sa STRASUC Olympics. Sigurado naman (na makakakuha ng ginto), number 1 boxing, sigurado diyan… at sa athletics.”

Sa naging panayam naman kay Jesfer R. Sabanes, 22 taong gulang, BSCrim student ng WPU-Main, at gold medalist sa athletics sa nakalipas na STRASUC Olympics 2019: 400-meter dash hurdle at 4x400-meter dash relay, mas lalo pa raw siyang humusay sa pagtakbo kumpara sa nakaraan niyang mga laro, at kumpiyansa siyang makasungkit ulit ng gintong medalya sa darating na kumpetisyon.

“Sa training ko ngayon, kakayanin. Sa ngayon mas nagbaba ang time ko kaysa sa time ko noong nakaraang STRASUC.”

Nakaraang Abril 22-28, nasa ikapitong pwesto ang WPU sa total medal tally noong STRASUC Olympics Bubble Competition 2022 na ginanap sa Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), Lucban, Quezon Province.

Subalit, hindi pa nga tiyak kung maiaangat pa ang ranggo ng unibersidad sa December STRASUC Sports Olympics dahil sa limitado lamang ang mga atletang madadala at kategoryang malalahukan ng WPU.

“Sa ngayon, limited lamang ang sinalihan nating event, lalo na mainland southern tagalog ang venue ng palaro, [hindi gaya ng sa atin] sila talaga ang magfu-full force….dahil kaunti lang ang gastos sa biyahe nila at pwede sila magdala ng maraming athletes,” sambit ni Ginoong Llavan.

Kasalukuyan nang nasa Cavite State University (CvSU) ang ating mga atleta at makikipagtuos sila sa iba't ibang mga SUCs hanggang sa ikasiyam ng Disyembre.

𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲’𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐄𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭 (𝐍𝐁𝐖) 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧

During the opening program of National Book Week, Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF) Noel L. Gauran and Quality Assurance Director Susan M. Gauran, together with the University Librarian Mr. Arneil Enario cut the ribbons signaling the start of the celebration.

CAFES Dean Lita B. Sopsop, SSC President-elect Clyrevie Mae A. Gavilaga, library staff, faculty, and students were also present at the activity.

On his message, VPAF shared how libraries shaped his desire to learn more during his high school years at WPU. He recalled that the present library building was not yet built until 1983.

He narrated how the free time he spent in the library—where one was situated before at where the University Store is now and another one at the OSAS building—helped him master algebra and deepen his vocabulary as early as high school.

Now that information is readily available online, the print media is under greater challenge. Students today, having a shorter attention span, have less interest in books, especially thick ones.

He added further that knowledge should be inherent and that we should know where to find it—at the library.

The dinosaur-themed library is now open to the public. It exhibits towering dinosaur statues with colorful designs and lighting handmade by students at each college.

The dinosaurs, according to Mr. Arneil Enario, the university librarian, symbolize illiteracy. One's personal stubborn resistance to change and refusal to accept new ideas, innovation, and transformation.

Relevant to the theme, he expressed that the library and this year's NBW target transforming old dinosaur selves into better ones through library materials and services.
