𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | Visayas State University Alangalang was honored with a Plaque of Recognition during the Gawad Parangal 2026 held on June 3, 2026, at the HRDC Gymnasium, Leyte Normal University, Tacloban City, in recognition of its outstanding performance in the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT)–Elementary Level as one of the Top Performing Schools in the Philippines, securing the 3rd Rank nationwide.

This prestigious recognition is a testament to the university's dedication to academic excellence and quality teacher education. It also reflects the hard work and commitment of its graduates, faculty, staff, and administrators, serving as a source of pride and inspiration for the entire VSU Alangalang community.

𝐀𝐃𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐘 | Following Proclamation No. 1264 issued by Malacañang declaring May 27 a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), and pursuant to OP Memorandum No. 927, s. 2026, all final examinations originally scheduled on the said date have been officially rescheduled to June 1.

Everyone is advised to follow the revised examination schedule accordingly.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | Visayas State University Alangalang has released the official schedule and important academic activities for the Midyear Classes 2026, which include important dates for registration, examinations, grade submissions, and other academic transactions. Students are encouraged to take note of the said schedules and comply with the designated deadlines to avoid delays and ensure a smooth process.

Graduating students are especially reminded to be guided by the deadlines for filing graduation applications and the submission of completion grades.

The university also encourages everyone to regularly monitor official announcements and coordinate with their respective departments and advisers regarding enrollment procedures, subject offerings, and other academic matters.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The student leaders from Visayas State University Alangalang participated in the 2026 State of the Federation Address (SOFA) delivered by VSU Student Regent Sanny M. Dumpa Jr. and held at the Office of the President Board Room in VSU Baybay on May 16, 2026.

Representing the VSUA University Supreme Student Council (USSC) were Ms. Ledeza J. Babiano, External Adviser; Carl Jhon Abala, President; and John Adrian Basibas, Treasurer. Also present was Angelyn Cabaltera, Vice President of the Faculty of Computing-Supreme Student Council (FC-SSC).

During the discussion, USSCF Treasurer Carl Jhon Abala presented the Federation's Financial Report for A.Y. 2025-2026, highlighting the remittances, expenses, remaining funds, and total federation funds from different campuses, including Baybay, Villaba, Isabel, Tolosa, and Alangalang.

Hon. Dumpa presented the federation's accomplishments, reflected on the challenges faced throughout his term, and discussed upcoming initiatives and plans for the student body across the VSU system.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | On May 15, 2026, Visayas State University Alangalang proudly celebrated its Honors and Awards Convocation 2026 at the gymnasium, recognizing outstanding students and organizations for their achievements in academics, leadership, sports, and community service.

The event featured inspirational messages from distinguished speakers: Mr. Nestor C. Labajoy, Municipal Agriculturist of Palo, Leyte, and Dr. Dulce E. Catindoy, Director for Research, Extension, and Innovation. Both emphasize the importance of perseverance, innovation, and service in education.

Mr. Labajoy encouraged students to remain hopeful by emphasizing, “Whatever happens, happens for a purpose,” reminding them to focus on the brighter side of things rather than reacting impulsively.

Dr. Catindoy highlighted the value of education and service, stating, “Education is the bridge from humble beginnings to endless possibilities; it is not complete until it is shared and uplifts others.”

Awards such as the Honors Recognition, Endeavor, and Leadership Award were presented to students who demonstrated excellence and commitment to their education.

Recognition was also given to the Civil Service Exam (CSE) passers and students who represented the school in academic and athletic competitions, especially those who emerged victorious during the Salingkusog 2025.

The event likewise recognized outstanding student organizations through awards such as the Collaborative Program of the Year Award, Innovative Program of the Year Award, Community Outreach Award, Environmental Champion Award, and Outstanding Organization Award.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The first day of the “Empowering Guidance and Peer Facilitators Training Program” was held on May 13, 2026, in the Conference Room.

Ms. Rupha Gin T. Fernandez, Coordinator of Support Groups, discussed “Mental Health and Peer Facilitating,” while Mr. Rhian Gil Trota Chavez shared his experiences as the President of the Junior Guidance Facilitators of Visayas State University in Visca, Baybay City.

Student leaders from different organizations attended the training, including the University Supreme Student Council, Faculty of Teacher Education, Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, Faculty of Computing Supreme Student Council, Collegia of Science Enthusiasts, Fellowship of Amazing Math Enthusiasts, and Royalties. Also present were Ms. Elai Kha M. Verunque, Coordinator of GCS, and Dr. Dulce E. Catindoy and Dr. Lyka Vanessa M. Catindoy, Department-Based Guidance Facilitators.

A wide range of topics were covered during the training, including mental health, the biopsychosocial-spiritual model, the eight dimensions of wellness, mental health during a pandemic, the core principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, mental health as a human right and individuals who are at risk, mental health care laws in the Philippines, the importance of mental health and peer support, facilitation and mental health promotion, and the role and relationship of a peer facilitator.

Day 2 of the training program will be held today, May 14, 2026.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | The Visayas State University Alangalang student body gathered on May 13, 2026, at the gymnasium for the Second Semester General Assembly of A.Y. 2025–2026. The event featured accomplishments and financial reports from the FFES-SSC, FTE-SSC, FAFS-SSC, and USSC, followed by open forums for each council.

Sheena Mae De la Cruz, Editor-in-Chief of The Tendrils, presented the publication’s editorial staff, major involvements, school paper, and literary folio.

A raffle draw was also held during the assembly, giving students the chance to win prizes.
