𝘼𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙩 12, 2025. The 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨, in the strongest possible terms, denounces the heinous and cowardly shooting of Ms. Arlyn D. Alcebar, 54 years old, School Principal of Agriculture Elementary School, which occurred at the front gate of said school in Midsayap, North Cotabato, on the morning of August 12, 2025.

According to the District Head’s report, the victim was driving a Toyota Rush and was about to enter the school premises when she was shot by two unidentified assailants riding in tandem on a motorcycle.

She is currently confined in a hospital and is in stable condition. Upon receiving the report, the Division Office promptly dispatched personnel to the area to coordinate with school officials, local authorities, and law enforcement agencies.

This brazen attack is a criminal offense and a flagrant assault on the sanctity of schools, which are recognized by law as zones of peace and learning. We call upon the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and all concerned agencies to immediately investigate, identify, and apprehend the perpetrators, and to prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.

The Schools Division of Cotabato stands in full solidarity with the victim, her family, and the school community, and will extend full cooperation to law enforcement in the pursuit of justice, for impunity has no place in a civilized society.

Issued this 12th day of August 2025 at Kidapawan City, Cotabato.

ISANG G**O, NAG-RESIGN DAHIL NAAPEKTUHAN ANG MENTAL HEALTH: "MAHAL MO YUNG PAGTUTURO PERO DI KA MASAYA"

Isang g**o ang nagbahagi ng kanyang karanasan sa pagtuturo sa loob ng ilang buwan.

Ayon kay Clara, isang public school teacher, ang pagiging g**o ay ang pinakamalaking pagsubok na hinarap niya sa kanyang career.

Kwento ni Clara, ang kanyang sariling ina ang naging inspirasyon niya sa pagiging g**o. Pagkatapos niyang makapasa sa licensure exam ay agad siyang naghanap ng eskwelehan na mapagtuturuan.

Medyo may alinlangan pa noon si Clara na makakapasa sa mga eskwelahang inapplyan niya dahil kulang daw siya sa experience at trainings. Ngunit maswerte siyang nakapasok kaya naman iniwan niya ang kanyang trabaho sa BPO industry.

Ngunit ilang buwan lamang ang lumipas ay nag-resign na si Clara.

“Akala ko madali, akala ko lang pala yon. In college they taught us different strategies with different kind of learners. Ayyyy! Naloka ako besh! May mga bata talagang walang nag wowork kahit anong tumbling gawin ko para makabasa sila,” sabi ni Clara.

STORY OF A TEACHER
“Anong silbi mo?”

I once called a parent to talk about her son’s bullying in class. I spoke calmly, hoping we could work together. But before I could finish, she snapped.

“Teacher ka lang. Wag kang makialam sa anak ko. Anong silbi mo?”

Those words hit harder than I expected.

I’ve bought chalk with my own coins, patched student uniforms with my own thread, and shared my lunch with those who had none. But in that moment, all of it was dismissed.

“Anong silbi mo?”

I said nothing. I chose silence over shouting—because I still had to show up the next day. Not for the parent. Not for the system. But for the kids who still believe in me.

To every teacher who’s been disrespected but still gives their all:
Your work is not unseen. Your heart is not unnoticed.

We don’t just teach—we care, we protect, we stay.
