Because of this natural barrier, countless lives, crops, and communities in the Pampanga plains are spared from the full force of destructive winds and rain. Locals express gratitude and a renewed call to protect the Sierra Madre from deforestation and exploitation — for in safeguarding her, we protect ourselves.
