𝗠𝗜𝗦 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴-𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺

To achieve drug-free generation and arm students with vital information and essential life skills amidst the pervasive threat of illegal drugs, Malabanias Integrated School (MIS) proactively fostered a drug-free environment when it hosted a comprehensive drug education symposium under the theme "Drug-Free Generation: Awareness and Prevention" for its junior and senior high school learners, today, September 18, 2025.

MIS meticulously organized the symposium in strict alignment with Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and various Department of Education (DepEd) issuances. These included DepEd Order No. 30, s. 2018 (Preventive Drug Education), DepEd Order No. 37, s. 2017 (Drug-Free Workplace Policy), and DepEd Memorandum No. 25, s. 2021 (Preventive Drug Education Curriculum Model). These policies underscored the Department of Education's dedication to integrated school safety and security initiatives.

More so, the primary objectives of the educational activity were clear: it informed learners about the harmful effects of dangerous drugs, equipped them with essential refusal skills and coping strategies against peer pressure and other influences, and raised awareness regarding the available support systems within the school and the wider community.

A significant highlight of the activity was the insightful presentation delivered by Police Master Sergeant Wendy P. Conde, who delved deep into the realities and grave dangers of illegal drugs. She also provided an authoritative perspective on the issue.

Meanwhile, aside from students, advisers and teachers actively participated, accompanied, and guided their respective learners throughout the session. MIS also emphasized the strict observance of health protocols and confidentiality throughout the entire activity.

This proactive approach by MIS, strongly supported by law enforcement, distinctly highlighted the critical role of education in building a resilient and drug-free youth. The impactful initiative successfully paved the way for a healthier future generation.

Tila isang bagong monumento ang itinayo– hindi sa bato, kundi sa pusong pilipino.

Tuluyan na ngang pumitas ng unang bunga ang Alas Pilipinas sa kanilang pagkapanalo sa FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship matapos pabagsakin at palasapin ng matitinik na palo ang Egypt na naganap sa Mall Of Asia Arena, kahapon, ika-16 ng Setyembre.

Pinatunayan ng Alas ang galing ng pilipino matapos nilang padapain sa 3-1 na set, na walang kaawa-awang kinawawa ang Egypt, 29-27, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21.

Nakakamangha at nakakabigla ang ipinamalas at pinalasap ng Pilipinas matapos di akalaing maitutumba nila ang ika-21 sa listahan na Egypt, samantalang sila ay nasa ika-89 lamang na pwesto.

Samantala, nagtala ng 25 pts (23 attacks at 2 blocks) si Bryan Bagunas, ang team captain ng ALAS, daan upang maitawid nila ang makasaysayang panalo.

Ayon sa kaniya, ang kanilang panalo ay nagsilbing mitsa sa nag-aalab nilang mga puso at determinasyon.

"Hindi lang kami hanggang SEA GAMES. Hindi lang kami hanggang ASIAN GAMES. May ibubuga rin kami sa WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. Ito na siguro ang simula." saad ni Bagunas.

Ang kanilang panalo sa Egypt ang nagbigay buhay sa dugo ng damdaming pilipino upang mas suportahan sila sa mga darating pang laban.

To promote value-laden teaching environment and honor teachers' commitment and role in school, all faculty members of Malabanias Integrated School (MIS), attended the Ukit Marangal, with a theme 'Honoring the Heart of Teaching, Inspiring the Future', held yesterday, September 12, 2025, at school covered court.

The said event happened in celebration of the National Teachers' Day (NTD). The event was facilitated by one of the respected faculty members of MIS, Mr. Christian Allan Cagano, from the SHS Department.

Across the talk proper, Mr. Cagano highlighted the core principle of teaching— having empathy to all the students.

The short talk also revolved around the purpose of teaching and how teachers could really affect students' lives.

According to the sharing of the OIC- Assistant School Principal of school, Mr. Arturo Dungca III, the very essence of being a teacher should lie from within.

"The true purpose of teaching profession comes from within. Magsimula ya pung makaukit ing tune tamung pamanuru keng pilubluban," Mr. Dungca said.

Meanwhile, after the Ukit Marangal talk, through the effort of the Faculty Club, administration, and SSLG officers, the 'Race to Inspire' Teachers' Edition returned after two years to highlight teachers' camaraderie and teamwork at work.

The teachers were divided into six groups and each group was required to finish a task every station.

But more than the challenges and tasks, the committee mentioned that the activity was organized to promote unity among teachers — which the school head, Dr. Cherry Hipolito, wanted to build in school.

"Gusto natin maging united tayo to promote healthy relationship to one another," Dr. Hipolito said.

Moreover, the winners were yet to be announced on the Culminating Activity of NTD celebration.

The activities truly cemented an indelible experience to every teacher of MIS. Through the simple sharing of one's role to uplifting one another, the teachers were honored and valued.

MIScian journalists, under the banner of Batch ALON, embarked on a transformative two-day Journalism Camp 2025 held on September 9–10, 2025, at the Malabanias Integrated School (MIS) Laboratories. With the theme "Sailing the Waves of Truth, One Pen at a Time," the camp aimed to enhance journalistic competence amidst a rapidly evolving world through a series of lectures and workshops led by seasoned experts.

Organized through the initiative of school paper advisers and the administration, the event gathered prominent mentors from various institutions to guide the student-journalists. Day 1 focused on core writing categories, with sessions led by:
- *Ms. Maria Bettina Soto-Dayrit for Editorial Writing,
- *Mr. Ernan Ducut for Copy Reading and Headline Writing,
- *Mr. Chassel Paras for Feature Writing,
- *Mr. Granhill Vinuya for News Writing,
- *Mr. Euwan Nathan Mosuela for Column Writing,
- *Mr. Jayward Corong for Editorial Cartooning,
- *Ms. Nyssa D. Ramos for Science Writing, and
- *Ms. Maricar Nicdao for Photojournalism.

Day 2 highlighted teamwork and adaptability, with workshops on:
- Radio Broadcasting by Ms. Princess Sangalang,
- *Sports Writing by Mr. Jeffrey Canlas, and
- *Collaborative Desktop Publishing by Mr. Enrie Nicdao.

Meanwhile, Dr. Cherry Hipolito, the school principal, emphasized the vital role of journalism in the school community, pledging full support for initiatives like the camp.

"Journalism plays a special role in the school community. Susuportahan natin. Nag-invite tayo ng mga speakers sa iba't ibang schools para turuan kayo," shared Dr. Hipolito.

Also, Mr. Enrie Nicdao, one of the school paper advisers, highlighted the camp as a stepping stone for preparing student-journalists for this year's Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC).

"This Camp Journ is a good venture for our student-journalists to enhance their skills at their respective categories. Through the support of our administration, we have invited different experts in Journalism. The experts will help us determine who among our journalists can represent the school for the upcoming DSPC," Nicdao explained.

The camp concluded with recognition for all participants and a rousing challenge from Mr. Nicdao.

"As the DSPC is peeking out the windows, you, the journalists, shall invest in your strength, emotional capacity, and creative mind to face the challenges—always sailing the waves of truth, one pen at a time," Mr. Nicdao, ended.

Monumental triumph—Alexa Eala, the Philippine tennis sensation, was able to make a record, after she bagged her inaugural Women's Tennis Association (WTA) win at this year's Guadalajara 125 open, taking over her opponent, Hungarian, Panna Udvardy in the finals, clinching her historic spot in the world of tennis at the Grandstand Caliente of the Pan American Tennis Center in Zapopan last Saturday, September 6, 2025 ET.

Eala was able to edge out Udvardy with a recovery from being behind during the first set, securing a 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 win against her opponent.

Fans are now also looking forward to the tennis superstars’ upcoming title match in Brazil for the Sao Paulo Open from September 8 to 14, eager for her to take the top spot in the said match.

The sound of slot machines echoes in the air, triggering memories of flashing lights and the thrill of a gamble. But today, slot machines don’t just sit inside grand casino halls; they’ve found a new home inside the palm of the hand. Picture a teenage boy standing on the sidewalk, waiting for his Jeepney ride. His face is glued to his mobile phone, not texting or browsing but spinning a digital slot machine—a modern addiction born from convenience and access.

With modern technology, almost everything that we want is at arm’s reach. It has also opened doors to industries that were not always available to the public back then. One of those that is the Casino industry which was once perceived to be exclusive to the rich and wealthy. With the rise of online casinos, more people are given the opportunity to play as long as they have their internet connection.

In the early 2000s, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has started venturing into the Internet Casino business not just to widen the gambling market of different casino games such as poker, and baccarat, but to also increase their revenue. This was done by introducing internet-based gambling e-games developed by Philweb Corporation and regulated by PAGCOR to the Philippine gambling market. As of 2022, the total internet Casino revenue in the country has reached around 11 billion pesos and was projected to reach a revenue of 24 billion pesos in 2024.

People from all age groups can now enjoy this colorful and flashy lifestyle anytime and anywhere as long as they have internet access on their mobile phones. But while online gambling offers entertainment and massive revenue generation, it also poses a significant societal problem. While majority of online casino players are already adults, teenagers have also found their way onto these platforms. Instead of using their allowance to buy food or school supplies, they are using their money to try their luck in online gambling. The addictive culture of online gambling has even led some of these young people to have financial difficulties, strained relationships, and mental health issues.

While online casinos can be a form of escape and a way to earn enormous revenue for our country, it shouldn’t be one of the reasons as to why some young people are now losing their future. As this industry continues to evolve and grow, there should be a way to maintain the balance between social responsibility and profitability. Otherwise, it will continue to break the lives of those who are lost in its blinding lights, scattering their dreams on the wind along the way.
