ANGELES CITY, Pampanga—The College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP) made a festive start to the second semester as it mounted its CAMPyon 2025 celeb today at the Sports and Cultural Center.

In said opening, CAMP hosted three bouts between constituent colleges: a beauty pageant, hip-hop dance competition, and cosplay contest.

With a unanimous turnout, the Medical Technology department dominated the pageant as Jean Raphael Mirabueno and Allind Marey Hipolito were crowned Mr. and Ms. CAMP, respectively.

The following were also awarded minor titles:

Meanwhile, the Alliance of Radiologic Technology Students snatched the hip-hop dance title for the fourth consecutive year while the Junior Philippine Pharmacists' Association and Physical Therapy Students' Society bagged second and third place, respectively.

Moreover, ARTS emerged triumphant in the cosplay event.

Today's event officially bannered four competing teams during the opening rights: The Phoenixes being the monicker of BS Pharmacy students, The Titans, composing both BS Occupational Therapy and BS Radiologic Technology learners, The Spartans being the namesake of BS Physical Therapy students, and The Archers embodied by BS Medical Technology scribes.

The four teams will be engaging in various academic and sports competitions from January 23 to January 25.

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga—Setting their course to a promising championship three-peat, the College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP) Falcons tallied seven victorious finishes during the opening day of this year’s U-Week last November 29, at the Sports and Cultural Center.

𝙒𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙟𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙩

The Falcons wasted no time in improving their run early on as they dominated both the men and women’s categories of the major ball games.

CAMP’s men’s volleyball team notched a dominant 2-0 fixture over the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) Bobcats, commanding the tempo of their entire match to win with a 25-18, 25-15 score.

The women’s game capped off with a familiar outing, outlasting the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Dolphins in a 25-17, 25-21 thriller.

𝙇𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙡𝙮

It was a show for the audience in the late afternoon as consecutive threes let loose by the CAMP basketball team led to a one-sided scoreboard against the School of Law (SOL).

Marthie Maglanque showed off his range by lacing multiple open looks that contributed immensely to the 87-30 masterclass that transpired.

In an interview, Maglanque mentioned that the team was encouraged to make use of every chance the players had when they got open.

ANGELES CITY–ALYAD, the dance troupe representing the College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP), placed first in the hip-hop dance competition amid technical difficulties during the opening of this year’s U-week yesterday, November 29 at Sports and Cultural Center arena.

Consisting of Jermie Mallari, Nathan Perucho, Julia Miranda, Nina Zacarias, Nikka Canio, Akio Tamoro, Laraine Pontillas, Tiffany Rodriguez, Jhoanna Gaña, Althea Capuno, Keziah Biag, and Mikcos Domingo–ALYAD secured CAMP’s first silver award with a narrow margin of just one point behind the reigning champs College of Nursing's (CON) 'Nutrix.' Mallari was also recognized as the Best Solo Performer, earning well-deserved praise for his sharp and captivating performance.

Meanwhile, the College of Computer Studies (CCS) placed second after demonstrating their creativity by a unique approach. They set themselves apart from the other performances with fresh choreography and innovative flair.

A symphony of chants and excited screams fill the air as AUF commences this year’s U-Week celebration of camaraderie, battle-spirit, and unity among all colleges. The long-awaited event was officially set in motion on November 29, 2024 at the Sports and Cultural Center (SCC) with this year’s theme – “Into The Zone: Blazing Limitless Trails.”

As an atmosphere of lively anticipation buzzes within the enclosed stadium, a parade of colors march around the arena with the introduction of athletes from various colleges, namely: The College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP) Falcons, College of Nursing (CON) Serpents, College of Computer Sciences (CCS) Dragons, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Dolphins, College of Education (CED) Marlins, College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) Bobcats, College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) Tigers, College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) Eagles, School of Medicine (SOM), and School of Law (SOL).

Following a doxology and the national anthem by the AUF Concert Chorus, a roll call was initiated for each college, igniting the fire of excitement once again. Words of encouragement by the University Student Council (USC) President Ma. Iyana Xiannel Buan and guest speaker, head coach of the Benilde Blazers Charles Justin Tiu inspired both spectators and athletes alike to forge ahead towards countless possibilities and while having fun in the process.

In continuation of festivities, respective MVPs of previous years’ U-Weeks graced the stadium, starting with the Oath of Sportsmanship by Gianna Pring, and succeeded with the torch-lighting ceremony by Sebastien Silos–the most valuable players of last year’s Women’s and Men’s volleyball competition.. Ms. Kitin Salas reminded the ecstatic audience and athletes to always strive for excellence, further lifting up morale.

“𝘛𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘻𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴,” Ms. Salas exclaimed.

The Vice President for Administration, Mr. Larry R. Carbonel, along with Mr. Tiu declared the official opening of the university games for 2024 in the ceremonial toss which marked the beginning of the competitions. Afterward, a special intermission number by the AUF Dance Troupe followed by the introduction of the masters of ceremony Rafael Milano Ponce and Joshua Daniel Nuqui signaled the end of the opening ceremonies and a transition into the hip-hop dance competitions.

A battle of quick thinking and charismatic delivery—students from various colleges took to the podium in a test of mind and spirit as they tried their hand at claiming triumph in the English Academic Contests. The contest, consisting of impromptu speech and oration, was held at St. Cecilia’s Auditorium on November 27 with the theme: “𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝘼𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙩-𝙂𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙚: 𝙀𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣 𝙀𝙧𝙖 𝙤𝙛 𝙍𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙙 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚."

In accordance with said theme, the impromptu speech contest had its participants choose from a wide array of prompts that correspond to different materials in which they will be given one minute of reflection and conceptualization before they present to the audience. A total of three minutes were allotted for each contestant to deliver their speech based on the material and question. Pharma bet and CAMP representative Jessica Cangco made a first runner-up podium finish after delivering her speech which delved into how the incorporation of humor and relatable scenarios make English-learning and communication more effective.

On the other end, in the oration contest the participants were tasked with formulating a speech with relevance to the theme of the event, after which they will be given three to five minutes at most to deliver their memorized speech on the stage. Fellow Pharma pride and CAMP representative Tyrone Bandong secured the second runner-up position after reciting his oration entitled – “𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙣𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜: 𝘼 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙩.”

Following the contest proper, deliberations were made by esteemed judges Dr. Elvira S. Balinas, Jerome Esguerra, and Jaypee De Guzman to determine the victors. The awarding of certificates and declaration of winners in the respective competitions facilitated by the Chair of the Board of Arbiters marked the end of the Intercollege English Academic Contests.

The College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP) and College of Nursing (CON) clashed over spot in the semi-final round of intercollegiate debate this afternoon at St. Cecilia's Auditorium, AUF Main Building.

CAMP contenders, Chloe Athena Tobias, Mark Edwin Santiano, Angelica Samaniego, outshone CON over the proposition: "𝙇𝙚𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙙...𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙬 16 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖."

CAMP representatives strongly opposed the motion, emphasizing that, rather than imposing a blanket ban, a more effective strategy would involve educating children and parents about safe online practices, digital literacy, and mental health support. It was pointed out that such a ban could potentially stifle the growth of digital skills crucial for the future workforce.

In an interview, Mark Edwin Santiano quoted that the argument was compelled effectively during their debate–expressing their team's strength and weakness.

Samaniego, a second-year radiologic technology student, was also under pressure, as she had limited time to lay out responses during interpellations.

"𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘥, 𝘐 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵 [𝘵𝘩𝘦] 𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴. 𝘏𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧."

Tobias, on the other hand, described the competition as a “rollercoaster ride” when asked about her insights to the proposition given to them for the competition.

Despite the rollercoaster ride, CAMP contenders successfully sealed their spot for the final rounds of the debate competitions as Tobias concluded their final defense as the negative side of the house, quoting that everything is good but in moderation.
