I hear it all the time, as if holding my baby is some kind of mistake.

But babies aren’t spoiled by being held they’re comforted, nurtured, and reassured that the world is safe. Their little bodies regulate better when they’re close, their brains grow through touch and connection, and their hearts learn what love feels like.

She spent months in my womb, wrapped in warmth and security. Why would she suddenly be ready for distance now?

My arms are her safe place, and I won’t apologize for giving her the closeness she needs. I don’t have to put her down to prove anything.

I’ll hold her as long as she needs, because one day she won’t need me the same way—and I’ll never regret the moments I kept her close.
