As a tour guide from Luzon, I travel to many different places, earning my living by sharing the beauty of the Philippines. This job isn't easy; it demands extensive knowledge of each location and its history. I constantly research, verify facts, and prepare trivia, sometimes facing questions that challenge my expertise. But through it all, the sense of accomplishment is immense. After a long, tiring day, even with swollen feet, the satisfaction of a job well done and the pay make every effort worthwhile. I truly enjoy what I do.
However, sometimes memories of being an in-house guide surface, reminding me how fortunate I am to have escaped that situation. Becoming freelance was the best decision I ever made. Though that agency initially boosted my confidence, I eventually felt controlled, overshadowed by others despite meeting so many people. There was a time I was stuck somewhere, treated like a slave by those who claimed to be family. The unforgettable words, 'You're just being paid, so act like a slave,' still echo, highlighting the stark contrast with the freedom I cherish now.
So, if you're asking if I want to go back, the answer is a firm no! The choices I've made are final. I am settled and continuously learning many different things. I'm thankful for the lessons from my past, but I'm confident in sharing this with others: don't just stay in one place if you know your worth. Go find it, and enjoy every moment of your life!
