SPORTS NEWS: VICTORIAS CITY PUT UP A SHOW IN PVL ON TOUR FINALE

VICTORIAS CITY, Negros Occidental – The Premier Volleyball League On Tour ended with a bang with a Victorias City stop to remember.
Alyssa Valdez and Ara Galang turned back the hands of time with vintage performances to carry Creamline and Farm Fresh to victories against Galeries Tower and Capital1, respectively, before 7,000 fans at the Victorias City Coliseum here.
Then there was the much-anticipated appearance by Jaja Santiago-Minowa in her first official PVL match in five years, as the 6-foot-4 middle hitter was one of the vital cogs of the Cool Smashers' straight-set romp of the Highrisers.
The Foxies bested the Solar Spikers in the curtain raiser.
Negrenses Erika Deloria and Alyssa Bertolano of Galeries Tower and Farm Fresh's Alyssa Bertolano also showed up in front of their provincemates in the event organized by GRID Sports Athletic in partnership with Victorias City supported by Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Javi Benitez.
“As someone born and raised in Victorias City, bringing the PVL home is deeply personal to me. Since 2017, GRID Sports Athletic has worked to bring high-level volleyball closer to communities across Negros," Bea Tan, President, GRID Sports Athletic said.
"Seeing thousands of Negrenses come together for this event proves that our province is ready for more major sporting events and that sports can bring pride, opportunity, and real economic value to our communities,” she added.
The biggest winners are the volleyball fans at the sugar capital of Negros Occidental who waited for so long to watch PVL action, as well as the players who want to inspire young athletes in the city.
The event was capped with an after party featuring singer Gigi de Lana.
