Philippine Museum Congress 2025: A Privilege and a Proud Moment
I had the honor of representing Baguio Tourism Council Chairperson Gladys Vergara during the opening ceremonies of the Philippine Museum Congress 2025, held on October 7, 2025, at Hotel Supreme Convention Plaza. Themed “A Voyage to the Future of Museums: New Technologies, Culture, Economics, Youth Involvement, and Greening Museums,” the four-day event brought together museum professionals, cultural workers, artists, and advocates from across the country to reimagine the future of Philippine museums.
Delivering Chairperson Vergara’s opening remarks and congratulatory message was a privilege. On her behalf, I shared the Baguio Tourism Council’s unwavering support for initiatives that nurture cultural heritage, promote sustainability, and encourage innovation within the creative sector. As Chairperson Vergara emphasized, the BTC believes that museums play a vital role not just in preserving the past but also in shaping a more creative, connected, and forward-looking future for our communities.
It was also a meaningful experience to spend time with National Artist for Film, Tatay Kidlat Tahimik, whose passion for culture and storytelling continues to inspire many. His message reminded everyone that museums are living spaces that are constantly evolving, learning, and telling new stories of who we are as Filipinos.
Equally heartwarming was the chance to meet and chat with some museum stakeholders from across the country and my fellow content creator, Sir Silver, also known as Ibadoya, who represented Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas during the program. Conversations like these remind us that collaboration, not competition, drives the creative community forward.
The Philippine Museum Congress 2025 was a celebration of innovation, sustainability, and cultural unity, proof that when heritage and creativity come together, we chart a brighter, greener, and more connected future for Philippine museums.
