An alumna of the College of Teacher Education (CTE), Christine Faith Obrigoso Heraldo, who achieved a historic feat by securing the 9th spot in this yearโs Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (Secondary Level) held in March 2026, was recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region VI during the 5th Regional Quality Awards held on May 21 in Iloilo City.
The CHED Region VI Regional Quality Awards are annual honors bestowed by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VI. These awards celebrate the outstanding achievements and best practices of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Western Visayas in the areas of instruction, research, community extension, and student affairs.
This achievement is a testament that the College of Teacher Education molds future educators not only to shine within the four walls of the classroom but also beyond them.
โHonestly, I feel very grateful and blessed. I never expected nga makaabot ako sini, especially on the regional stage. It still feels surreal for me, daw mahibi ako, but Iโm very thankful to God, my family, teachers, friends, and everyone nga nagsuporta sa akon throughout this journey,โ Heraldo said.
Her journey was not easy. It required courage, determination, perseverance, and the unwavering support of her loved ones.
โWhat inspired me the most was my dream of becoming a teacher and making my family proud. I was also inspired by the people around me, especially those who achieved their goals through hard work and faith,โ she added.
Heraldoโs triumph reminds us that as long as we do not give up and continue to seek Godโs guidance, everything is possible.
โTo my fellow students, especially the CTE students, never underestimate yourself. Believe in yourself, work hard, pray, and trust Godโs timing. Your current situation does not define your future. Someday, all your sacrifices will be worth it,โ she stressed.
Accompanying her were the Collegeโs supportive Associate Dean, Dr. Aldrex A. Barrientos, and Ma'am Millie Flor Adam, Area Head of BSED Science, who expressed their pride in Heraldoโs achievement and the honor she brought to the College.
โI am happy and proud to have a LEPT topnotcher from CTE and BSED Science. Our Associate Dean, Dr. Aldrex A. Barrientos, and I were there to accompany Ms. Christine Faith Heraldo as she received her award as one of the topnotchers among the CHED scholarship grantees. I hope and pray to return in the coming years to witness more CTE graduates receive the same, if not greater, recognition from CHED Region VI,โ said Ma'am Adam.
This shared milestone reflects the unwavering support and collaborative efforts of both students and faculty members in producing quality educators committed to uplifting lives and building sustainable and resilient communities.
