SARINGSING: A BONSAI ART EXHIBIT
A rare 70-year-old bonsai, a Singapore Holly (Malpighia coccigera), is now on display for the public to witness at โ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฃ๐๐จ๐๐ฃ๐: ๐ผ ๐ฝ๐ค๐ฃ๐จ๐๐ ๐ผ๐ง๐ฉ ๐๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ฉ,โ which opened on December 3, 2025, at the side of the Old Capitol Building as part of this yearโs Binirayan Festival celebration.
The decades-old miniature tree is among the pieces featured by the Bonsai and Suiseki Club of Antique. The exhibit was formally opened through a ceremonial ribbon cutting led by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members Fernando Corvera Sr. and Zoilo Bernardo Tubianosa on behalf of Governor Paolo Javier.
According to Arnel Barcemo, Vice President of the Bonsai and Suiseki Club of Antique, bonsai is an art form shaped by patience, discipline, and thoughtful cultivation.

He also described Suisekiโanother art form practiced by the clubโas the appreciation of naturally shaped stones, though none were displayed in this yearโs exhibit.

The Bonsai and Suiseki Club of Antique, composed of around sixty members across the province, has been participating in the Binirayan Festival for seven years, pausing only during the pandemic. Each member maintains a personal bonsai garden, nurturing plants that often take decades to trainโsuch as the remarkable 70-year-old Singapore Holly.
Barcemo encouraged both locals and visitors to drop by and appreciate the artistry behind each bonsai.
