KAPAGANGAN Adviser Makes History After Winning in Regional Training for School Paper Advisers

In a remarkable achievement, a school paper adviser from Kapangan in the person of Mrs. Lunesyl Decinilla has made history by winning top honors in the recently concluded Regional Training and Competition for School Paper Advisers. This prestigious event, which gathers the best and brightest journalism mentors from across the region, aims to sharpen the skills of advisers who play a crucial role in guiding student journalists.

The Kapagangan adviser stood out among dozens of participants, demonstrating exceptional expertise in areas such as editorial management, journalistic writing, layout and design, and coaching techniques. Their victory marks a significant milestone for Kapangan, as it is the first time a representative from the municipality has clinched the top award in this regional event.

Organizers and fellow participants lauded the adviser's performance, citing their innovative strategies for nurturing young writers and their commitment to journalistic excellence. The achievement not only brings pride to their home community but also inspires a new generation of student journalists to aim high and pursue excellence in campus journalism.

Our Story

Kapagangan is a Kinaray-a term for coral reefs, is the current flagship student-led school-community publication of Mag-aba National High School in Pandan, Antique, Philippines. The coral reefs symbolize the growth and dynamic idealism of student writers and the community where they belong. The publication was founded in 1993 with years of renaming and finally comes to its permanence in 2011 with its current name. The publication itself stands as a platform for free, critical, creative, and responsible expression among young minds.
