The College of Teacher Education (CTE), College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS), and College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS) of Cagayan State UniversityโAparri earned top spots during the campus-wide Search for Best Undergraduate Thesis held on May 14, 2025, at the CSU Main Hall Audio-Visual Building as organized by the Research Development and Extension Office.
Ghelo Yharie Pascua, a fourth-year BSEd-English student, and his group topped the Social Science category with their thesis, "Exploring the Pedagogical Functions of Code-Switching Use Across Curriculumโ, with his group members composed of Kleeny Jhain Rocero, Jhoan Gamayon, Diasy Millan, and Jinky Bunnao. The said thesis was mentored by Dr. Mark John Marcos Tamanu and Dr. Arlene Talosa.
Garnering 2nd place under the same category are the following CICS students namely Krisha Publico, Christine Joy Remigio, Justine Gamo from CICS with their study, โ"Impact of Computer Accessibility and Hands-On Experience on Bsit 2nd Year Students' Engagement in Practical Coding Application." The study was guided by Engr. Julieta Babas.
Meanwhile, Aedrian Dave A. Udarbe, Joshua Sumauang, Stephany Umblas, and Therry Mae Cortes took the top spot in the Technological Research category with their thesis titled, โSDG Monitor: Design and Development of the Sustainable Development Goal Monitoring Portal of Cagayan State University - Aparri.โ The project was guided by Prof. Dr. Billy Javier.
Ralph Lefrancis Domingo from the College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy presented their thesis titled, โE-C Pay โConvenience in Every Tapโ CSUA Electronic Canteen Payment System using RFID Technology with SMS Notificationโ which garnered 2nd place under the same category. He is accompanied by his team, Karla Catrina Abuyuan, Aira Jane B. Pacnis, Jenalyn Padre, and Leonard Andrei Peralts, guided by Dr. Venus Luz Colosaga.
In the Experimental Research category, CFAS students, John Carlo Macatiag, together with Geoerlene Mauricio, and Roselyn Tacderas claimed first place with their study, โโEfficiency of Janitor Fish and Black Mussel on Fattening of Mangrove Crab,โ under the guidance of Dr. Emma Ballad and Maโam Glycinea de Peralta.
Meanwhile, Dominic Macan, a fourth-year student of Bachelor of Elementary Education claimed 2nd place under the same category bearing the title โDevelopment and Implementation of RANIAG: An Enriched Reading Material for Catch up Fridays on Grade 5 Learnersโ with his co-authors Aira Costales, Rhina Macugay, Pascual Melanie, Valdez Billy Joe, and Time Rosana, under the supervision of Ms. Ma. Victoria Santiago.
The winning theses from the campus will advance to compete in the university-wide search for outstanding undergraduate research, where they will represent CSU-Aparri against entries from other campuses.
