| 42ND STUDENT CONGRESS TEAM BUILDING

CSUans from nine (9) satelite campuses of Cagayan State University united as one during the Team Building of the 42nd Student Congress held at CSU Andrews Campus earlier today, May 23.

Twelve (12) houses derived from the Game of Thrones went through twelve (12) stations scattered inside the campus vicinity, earning points as they vie for the overall championship.

CSUans from nine (9) satelite campuses of Cagayan State University gathered as one during the first day of the 42nd Student Congress held at CSU Andrews Campus yesterday, May 22.

The first day started with a Eucharistic Mass, followed by the energetic Parade of Delegates around the campus, proceeding with the Opening Program that happened inside the Claude Andrews Convention Center, and ending with the Lighting of Torch and Solidarity Dance.

Cagayan State University-Aparri held a Disaster Preparedness and First Aid Seminar on May 21, 2025, at the CSUA Gymplex with the theme "Empowering Our Community: Building Resilience through Disaster Preparedness & First Aid Seminar."

The event was attended by first and second-year students and featured talks from campus and local DRRM officers. Participants learned different first aid techniques and were briefed on natural disaster responses.

Furthermore, it was led by Oliver Agoto of LDRRMO III, with opening messages from Engr. Audy R. Quebral, DPA, and other campus officials. An open forum and awarding of certificates capped off the program.

The seminar emphasized the importance of youth involvement in disaster risk reduction and encouraged students to be proactive in promoting safety within their communities.

Presenting the final and official tally of the Aparri Campus Student Council Elections 2025.

With no opposing candidates, Krisha Publico and Jeianne Decerie Miguel are elected as the new President and Vice President, receiving 2,681 and 2,653 votes, respectively.

Also running unopposed, having garnered the majority votes, the Senate is composed of the following senators-elect, to wit:

The College of Teacher Education (CTE), College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS), and College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS) of Cagayan State Universityโ€“Aparri earned top spots during the campus-wide Search for Best Undergraduate Thesis held on May 14, 2025, at the CSU Main Hall Audio-Visual Building as organized by the Research Development and Extension Office.

Ghelo Yharie Pascua, a fourth-year BSEd-English student, and his group topped the Social Science category with their thesis, "Exploring the Pedagogical Functions of Code-Switching Use Across Curriculumโ€, with his group members composed of Kleeny Jhain Rocero, Jhoan Gamayon, Diasy Millan, and Jinky Bunnao. The said thesis was mentored by Dr. Mark John Marcos Tamanu and Dr. Arlene Talosa.

Garnering 2nd place under the same category are the following CICS students namely Krisha Publico, Christine Joy Remigio, Justine Gamo from CICS with their study, โ€œ"Impact of Computer Accessibility and Hands-On Experience on Bsit 2nd Year Students' Engagement in Practical Coding Application." The study was guided by Engr. Julieta Babas.

Meanwhile, Aedrian Dave A. Udarbe, Joshua Sumauang, Stephany Umblas, and Therry Mae Cortes took the top spot in the Technological Research category with their thesis titled, โ€œSDG Monitor: Design and Development of the Sustainable Development Goal Monitoring Portal of Cagayan State University - Aparri.โ€ The project was guided by Prof. Dr. Billy Javier.

Ralph Lefrancis Domingo from the College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy presented their thesis titled, โ€œE-C Pay โ€˜Convenience in Every Tapโ€™ CSUA Electronic Canteen Payment System using RFID Technology with SMS Notificationโ€ which garnered 2nd place under the same category. He is accompanied by his team, Karla Catrina Abuyuan, Aira Jane B. Pacnis, Jenalyn Padre, and Leonard Andrei Peralts, guided by Dr. Venus Luz Colosaga.

In the Experimental Research category, CFAS students, John Carlo Macatiag, together with Geoerlene Mauricio, and Roselyn Tacderas claimed first place with their study, โ€œโ€œEfficiency of Janitor Fish and Black Mussel on Fattening of Mangrove Crab,โ€ under the guidance of Dr. Emma Ballad and Maโ€™am Glycinea de Peralta.

Meanwhile, Dominic Macan, a fourth-year student of Bachelor of Elementary Education claimed 2nd place under the same category bearing the title โ€œDevelopment and Implementation of RANIAG: An Enriched Reading Material for Catch up Fridays on Grade 5 Learnersโ€ with his co-authors Aira Costales, Rhina Macugay, Pascual Melanie, Valdez Billy Joe, and Time Rosana, under the supervision of Ms. Ma. Victoria Santiago.

The winning theses from the campus will advance to compete in the university-wide search for outstanding undergraduate research, where they will represent CSU-Aparri against entries from other campuses.

CSU Aparri received a Very Satisfactory rating in the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on March 25, 2025, with 1,784 participants completing a two-hour simulation.

Compared to last yearโ€™s 71%, this yearโ€™s 86% rating reflects a quicker response during the drill, based on observations from BFP-Aparri and MDRRMO evaluators.

This activity supports the LGUโ€™s goal of improving disaster readiness in the municipality.

College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS) of Cagayan State University - Aparri (CSU-Aparri) bagged a total of seven major awards during the 15th ICT Roadshow hosted by Isabela State University-Echague Campus last April 28โ€“30, 2025, with the theme โ€œCreating Minds, Building Future: Leading the Way in Digital Empowerment.โ€

Outperforming participating schools, CSU-Aparri secured championship titles in Technovation (Capstone Presentation) and E-Sports (Mobile Legends), while also placing in five other contested events including General Programming, Story Telling, Spoken Word Poetry, Hip-hop, and Digital Poster Making.

The Technovation team composed of Joshua Sumauang, Aedrian Dave Udarbe, and Christine Joy Remigio was coached by Prof. Billy Javier and Sir Franksel Tindoc Jr., while the Mobile Legends squad of Zion Kite Ronquillo, Joshua Arellano, Mark Daniel Sambolledo, Mark Reduca, Arison Rigunan, and Andrei Oliva was mentored by Sir James Karl Agpalza.

CSUA-CICS also clinched 1st runner-up positions in General Programming, Story Telling, Spoken Word Poetry, and Hip-hop Dance, as well as 2nd Runner-Up in Digital Poster Making.

The campus' strong performance reflects its commitment to fostering excellence in both technical innovation and the creative arts.

Student-athlete Charme Cashle Pones of Cagayan State University - Aparri Campus claimed the silver medal in shot put at the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) 2025, held from April 23 to 27 on Camiguin Island, Mindanao.

Pones, a first year BS Criminology student, shared that her preparations had been inconsistent due to a tight schedule, but she made the most of her free time to train.

Overwhelmed by her victory, Pones also admitted she hadnโ€™t expected placing in the event, given the strong competition.

Pones also credited her coaches for their unwavering support and mentorship.

โ€œSa coach ko po, si Maโ€™am Kathlyn Mata, ang una kong nakilala. Sabi niya, aalagaan niya po ako pagdating sa larangan ng sports,โ€ she recalled.

She continued, โ€œTatlo po sila na gumabay sa akin through their motivating wordsโ€”sina Maโ€™am Kathlyn Mata, Maโ€™am Hermilinda Orenze, at si Sir Bill. Special thanks din po sa naging coach ko ngayong national, si Maโ€™am Grace Angelito, na naniwala sa kakayahan ko.โ€

Meanwhile, Pones also extended her appreciation to everyone who supported her in achieving this milestone.

UPDATE | CLASS SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENT DUE TO HEAT INDEX

The Office of the Campus Executive Officer has announced a temporary shift in class delivery at Cagayan State University - Aparri Campus due to the dangerously high heat index.

Starting today, April 22, 2025, until the end of the week, all classes will be conducted online.

However, Midterm Examinations will still be held face-to-face as originally scheduled.

NEWS | 'SOON TO RISE' - Univ officials, benefactors prime groundbreaking, cornerstone laying ceremonies for CSUA grandstand

Aparri, Cagayan - Cagayan State University officials, campus officials, and benefactors lead the ground breaking and cornerstone laying ceremonies of the CSUA grandstand today, April 15.

OIC President, Dr. Arthur G. ibaรฑez, together with the Vice Presidents, Campus Officials and Representatives headed by Engr. Audy R. Quebral, and benefactors, Congressman Jojo Lara and Dr. Zara Lara primed said the ceremonies, hopeful to prosper unity among stakeholders as the campus' grandstand is soon-to-rise.

CEO Quebral welcomed the visitors and benefactors for the event stating, "Agyaman tayu iti kaadda agituy bisita tayu, nga isu nga makipagtaktakunaynay kada tayo ken mangsup-suporta kada tayo iti anyaman nga plano tayo iti pagadalan tayo."

Meanwhile, series of responses are delivered as the ground breaking and cornerstone laying happened. Dee Jay Felix, the Campus Students Council President spoke in behalf of the students; Dr. Quirino G. Pascua, dean of the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences represented the academic community; and Ma'am Cristine Joy Gacusan represented the parents.

Moreso, CSU benefactors expressed their message and aspirations, particularly to the students and beneficiaries of the projects.

"Congratulations, CSU Aparri students for your new grandstand that will rise soon. May this be an inspiration for you to dream more... Isa lang ang challenge ko sa inyo - iyon ay ang mag-aral kayo nang mabuti for yourself and for your future," Dr. Lara said in her speech.

"We listened to the voices of our student leaders during the leadership summit. Nagrequest sila ng mga naturang proyekto na gusto nilang maipatayo sa kaniya-kaniyang campus. We are happy that we didn't just stick to what they requested. We improved it, para sa inyo, mga estudyante, the reason why we forwarded the initiative to have this grandstand possible, as will as with the different projects in other CSU campuses," District 3 representative Cong. Jojo Lara stated.

Meanwhile, this soon-to-rise grandstand will be the first to rise in the municipality which accounts to a total allocated budget of 100,000,000 pesos.
