Among the delegates, Danica A. Seriote, a fourth year student from the College of Teacher Education of Cagayan State University - Aparri, is bound for Singapore today to participate in the Asian Undergraduate Symposium organized by National University of Singapore (NUS) on July 04-18.

The symposium serves as an academic discussion, leadership and cultural exchange initiative platform for undergraduate students of different countries.

Seriote's participation signifies the dedication of the university towards internationalization and cultural enrichment which promotes collaboration and cross-cultural understanding among the delegates.

𝑵𝑬𝑾𝑺 | 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐊𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬

Cagayan State University Aparri joined the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) PeerKada Training as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen student support initiatives and promote a more inclusive university community.

Representing the university were Campus Student Council President Uriel Ragasa and Dr. Remalyn Adviento, who participated alongside student leaders, guidance practitioners, and higher education representatives from various institutions during the two-day training held on June 24 to 25 at the 456 Hotel Legarda in Baguio City.

Organized by CHED in partnership with the UNILAB Foundation and Heads Up PH, the PeerKada: Building Healthy Connections, Nurturing Inclusive and Supportive Spaces Program focused on developing peer facilitation skills, strengthening referral practices, and encouraging participants to help cultivate safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments within higher education institutions.

Reflecting on the training, Ragasa underscored the role of PeerKada in reinforcing existing student support systems through trained peer facilitators who can provide initial assistance and recognize when professional intervention is needed.

"PeerKada is not intended to replace mental health professionals but to strengthen the existing support system. Through proper training and a structured referral system, peer facilitators can provide a safe space for students while recognizing when professional intervention is necessary," Ragasa said.

Dr. Adviento likewise emphasized the value of the program, describing it as a timely initiative that renewed her commitment to serving the university community.

"It was a meaningful experience and a renewed commitment to serving our students while encouraging everyone to help make our university a safe and supportive environment for both students and staff. The activity was timely as it addressed the growing mental health concerns among learners, teachers, and university personnel," she shared.

The university's participation in the national training highlights its continued commitment to advancing student support initiatives through collaboration among students, faculty members, and university offices. By strengthening peer support networks and fostering a culture of care, CSU Aparri continues to promote an environment where members of the academic community feel supported, heard, and empowered.

The Campus Student Council of Cagayan State University-Aparri Campus conducted the first-ever Freshie’s Socialization Night under Salubong 2026, themed “Igniting the Hero in Every CSUan,” at the CSU-A Gymplex.

In her opening remarks, Ma. Victoria R. Santiago, MA, CSC Adviser welcomed the freshmen and encouraged them to build friendships and make the most of their college experience.

“We hope that through this activity, you will meet new friends, build connections, and create memories that will make your college life even more meaningful,” she said.

The event featured performances from the Sarigawan Band, a Unity Dance presentation, and the Freshie Dance Showdown Department Face-Off, where students from different colleges showcased their talents and school spirit.

Participants also took part in various unity games, including Bring Me to Jerusalem, Head Sack Race, Love, Joy, Hope, Group Yourself Into, Calamansi Relay, Calamansi Pitik, Money Villar, Caterpillar Balloon, and Paalloon, with prizes awarded to winners.

The program concluded with the Search for Mr. and Ms. Freshie and Mx. Freshie, where contestants showcased their confidence, personality, and stage presence.

The activity served as an avenue for freshmen to interact with fellow students, strengthen camaraderie, and foster a sense of belonging within the CSU-Aparri community.

The Guidance and Counselling Center (GCC), in collaboration with the Office of the Student Development and Welfare (OSDW) and the Aparri Campus Student Council (ACSC), conducted an intensive orientation program for first-year and transferee students with the theme, “From Newcomers to Trailblazers: Embracing the Journey Ahead.”

Dr. Corazon T. Talamayan, Campus Director for Academic Affairs, discussed the University's Academic Policies and Procedures, providing students with clear guidelines and expectations.

Moreover, Campus Coordinators, faculty, staff, and advisers of student organizations introduced the various services available in the campus, including Registrar's Office Services, Gender and Development Office, Financial Services, Medical-Dental Services, Food Services, Library Services, Business Office, Socio-Cultural, Campus Student Publication, Sports, Campus Safety and Security, Housing and Dormitory, Client Satisfaction Management, Guidance and Counselling Center, and also, Student Development and Welfare.

On behalf of Dr. Remalyn A. Ocampo, OSDW Coordinator, Ms. Jay Ann Tabaniag, OSDW Staff delivered a message, reminding the students to uphold the values of responsibility and integrity as they begin their academic journey at the university.

“Remember that your success starts with the choices you make today. Be responsible, stay focused on your goals, and never hesitate to seek guidance whenever needed,” she shared.

The whole day session aimed for the students to familiarize and learn about the University's policies and enlightened with different services offered on campus, marking the official start of the Academic Year 2026-2027.

The Campus Student Council of Cagayan State University-Aparri Campus conducted Salubong 2026 with the theme "Igniting the Hero in Every CSUan," bringing together new and returning students at the CSU-A Gymplex.

Campus Executive Officer Dr. Policarpio L. Mabborang, Jr., ASEAN Engr., delivered an inspirational message emphasizing the importance of perspective, teamwork, and prioritizing what truly matters in life. Drawing lessons from motivational stories, he encouraged students to remain focused on their goals and make meaningful choices throughout their academic journey.

Meanwhile, in a video message, Officer-in-Charge University President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez welcomed both new and returning students and reaffirmed the university's commitment to providing quality and inclusive education.

“Your success remains our priority. Every program, initiative, and service we provide is designed to help you achieve your goals and prepare you for a meaningful future,” Dr. Ibañez said.

The program also featured the introduction of campus officials, office heads, faculty members, staff, and administrative personnel to familiarize students with the individuals who support the university's academic and student services.

Moreover, the ACSC facilitated various activities, including the Digital Banner-Making Competition, Cheers and Yells Competition, introduction and oath-taking of CSC Ad Hoc Officers, and intermission performances that encouraged student participation and camaraderie.

Adding excitement to the celebration were the Search for Mr. and Ms. Freshie and the Search for Mx. Bayanix, where contestants showcased their creativity, confidence, and talents through interviews, question-and-answer portions, creative introductions, and lip-sync performances.

The event concluded with the awarding of winners in the different contests, officially marking the start of a new academic year while promoting leadership, unity, and school pride among CSUans.
